So I just figured out that I misread Between Two Castles. I thought it worked like the Society; it's the opposite. Numbers have to start high and go down as they go up, and I did it backwards. So that means my move in turn 7 on Between Two Castles was illegal. (And my move on turn 6 basically screwed the column up badly.)

How should I handle this?

- I'd propose moving the 3 in the right slot to a different slot, while trying to keep it as close as possible to the original move. One slot to the left would be my immediate thought - that would be legal, and not particularly advantageous.
- I'd keep the move made Turn 8 exactly as it stands - it's still legal, even accounting for the -2 hearts from not filling the column in turn 7.

Your thoughts?

This has two possible moves listed; the first may not be legal (for reasons that have nothing to do with the above note). If it is legal, I'm doing the first set; if it's not legal, I'm doing the second set. Will hold on doing the graphics until I get confirmation.

First: spend two coins to create a 4. (Rolled dice add up to 7, so coins can copy an existing die. Dice available: 4,4,3. Coins available: 0)
Second: spend two pumpkins to turn the copied 4 into a 5. (Dice available: 5,4,3. Pumpkins: 2)
Third: use the 5 on The Society, top row, left slot. (+2 stars, +1 heart, +1 coin. Stars: 11. Hearts: 2. Coins: 1. Dice left: 4,3)
Fourth: spend one coin to create a 1. (Dice available: 4,3,1. Coins: 0)
Fifth: use the 1 on Between Two Castles, left castle, top row, only slot. (+1 star, +2 pumpkins. Stars: 12. Pumpkins: 4. Dice left: 4,3)

Eighth: I cannot legally use the 3, as I've put dice in all three areas and have no pumpkins remaining to break that rule. Trade the 3 for a heart. (+1 heart. Hearts: 3.)


If this is illegal due to putting myself in a position where I couldn't use the 3, make the following changes:
1st - skip this step.
2nd - Change the rolled die instead of the copied die.
3rd/4th/5th - no change
6th - skip this step.
7th: Use the 3 on Wingspan, right row, right slot. (+1 star)
8th - skip.

Results in one less star due to not hitting the 16 total in Wingspan and one less heart due to not having a leftover die, but saves 2 coins and 4 pumpkins.

I'm going to say it's fine, it's confusing and I probably shouldn't have put those two together. This also isn't super strict either and it was an honest mistake so I just say roll with it

Just to clarify: the two possible moves listed both abide by your earlier ruling, with the 3 moved over to a legal area. (In fact, they both depend on this ruling; if we're switching to "Just roll with it" I'll have to redo Move 9, as it is then *definitely* illegal.) It's more based on a rules question than anything:

- Normally, you can't use two dice in the same area, unless you use the 3-pumpkin power.
- Hearts and coins let you create dice. Doing this does not let you violate the above rule (unless doing so in conjunction with the 3-pumpkin power).

The question is: can you create multiple dice with coins and/or hearts and thus put yourself in a situation where you can't legally use one of the rolled dice? The rules do mention a case covering "if you have a die you can't use" but the spirit of the rules seems to indicate it's intended as a consolation prize for bad luck and shouldn't be used often.

If the answer is "Yes, that's legal," then my first moveset (which does this) is the one I want to do.
If the answer is "No, that's not legal," then my second moveset (which does not do this) will be the one I use.

Sorry I think I understand now.

If you create multiple dice with coins/hearts you cannot use them in a realm you already used this turn UNLESS you use 3 pumpkins. If you have a die that you cannot legally use you can get a resource of your choice but it's very rare that this should happen and not intended to just trade 1 die for 1 resource.
