My original plan this round was going to pull off the same trick I did in round 1 - sacrifice a die for a resource. This time I thought there was even less ambiguity - if I spend the 5 anywhere other than Charterstone, I then am in a situation where I can't spend the 2 as rolled. That gives me a third coin, which triggers the stars in MLS. 3 coins gives me a 3, which knocks out a crate in Charterstone. And using pumpkins to boost the 5 to a 6 in Viticulture gets me the last two stars there, for a total of five stars.

Except by the wording of My Little Scythe, it pays off based on resources from all the realms. Trading in a die for a resource means that resource didn't come from a realm, so it wouldn't actually trigger the stars from MLS.
So I'd need to get a coin elsewhere. I could copy a 5 or a 2 with hearts, but the only place left to play without spending more pumpkins that I don't have is MLS itself, and I'd need to play two 5s there - which would also cost pumpkins I don't have.

So I have to run a variant on it instead and spend a coin and an extra pumpkin to grab a coin from Viticulture, which means not quite enough resources left to snag the star from Charterstone. It still sacrifices a die, but doesn't really get anything super-important from it. That 2 really was worthless. If I'd known it was coming I could have saved some resources from last round, but alas.
