Mafia Championships 2023 Player Selection

Hello! Mafia Universe has invited us to participate in the Mafia Championships. I think many of you know what that is but if not read the link at the bottom of this post.

We've decided to allow the community to make a selection for a representative and alternate for this event. Here's how that will work. Reply to this thread with a nomination. You can nominate yourself. We'll take the players with the most nominations, and then put it up for a vote. Top two vote getters will be the representative and alternate, respectively.

If you are nominating someone who isn't yourself, please check in with them to see if they want to play.

A nominated player cannot currently be banned.

Remember that this event will have some overlap with the start of Team Mafia.

If you are selected to play we expect you to do so! We also expect you to represent the site well, so don't break rules or say bigoted things as guests to this other community.

We also cannot guarantee that MU isn't allowing players who are banned from MafiaScum from participating. This is an off-site event. So keep that in mind if you want to sign up.

The deadline for selection is April 22nd, however MU is hosting pre-championship practice games, so the sooner we get this done, the better.

I've got quite a bit going on between Team Mafia and the holiday next weekend so I'm leaving this topic largely community driven, but please try not to argue a mafia game in here while making nominations!

I'd love to try playing or being backup. I lurked last year and it was really fun to watch. I think a game with players with many different backgrounds and experiences with Mafia is an environment that I would do well in.

I'm very happy to see the modteam's initiative this year. I'm going to suggest we add some variety and not just automatically send Datisi, even though he was a great representative last year, is about to rake in a treasure trove of Scummies, and would likely do us proud this year.

I think fireisredsir, our soon-to-be-crowned Rising Star, would be a great pick, and I think their style is very representative of what has historically made MafiaScum a fantastic place to play while still being well-suited to the fast pace of games there. They're also just consistently an absolute treasure and joy to play with, which I think is important in nominating a representative.

I don't remember if the MU Championships are just a popularity contest or not but realistically I actually think he has a real shot at winning this event. Klick is REALLY good and I think he would do really well in this environment.

also transcend is a possible person playing, keep that in mind - you can ask to blacklist people round 1 if anything (obviously less feasible as there are less games as rounds go on)

I'm definitely not popular, just well known - and utilized active play to get far - there is merit in being involved in the game pretty much. I played with a lot of people I've never played with b4 last year and learned to respect their point of view.

I think that all of Datisi, Klick, TSQ, Fireisredsir are all excellent choices for our representative, and will Nth all of them.

This will actually be a pretty hard group to choose between tbh.

I don't really have an opinion on who should go but i do think it would be nice to let someone new go this year instead of sending previous representative again.
