the mechanics are so weird but I really like the characters for the most part

combat calculations (e.g. hit rates) and UI things (e.g. I can't figure out how to adjust what my mages hit with on EP) feel weird
I miss feeling like my dudes ever get xp
etc.

that's the funny part; I've been pulling out an old save of the cartridge I have now and then recently, looking at some online resources which say (and I think I agree) it basically doesn't matter who you invest in bc you can get anybody to close-to-max stats if not max stats anyway, over time HOWEVER the one thing I liked doing was planning out otherwise-impossible skill inheritance stuff with the children characters ... just more Seals (which are infinite if you're using SpotPass) XP/Gold (also infinite via Outrealm/DLC maps) and time needed for some of them, less for others

I love Donnel & anybody that could be a Manakete or Dark Mage; I think the fun of the newer games with free-er reclassing is just investing in who you want, even supports-wise since they're mainly based on turns spent near each other in battle still, right? i don't rly remember specifically heheh

i think. i'm not usually that tryhard in fe so i usually aim for the upper middle of that

I think the best thing (in Awakening) is to pick which characters you despise the least that can support eachother (& ones that can have children characters), bc you'll want them to be supporting and/or paired up, even, bc it's OP as hell, so given Ariel's spoiler, best idea is probably

5-8ish pairs of 2

& some other good/favorite units - Manaketes & most non-Dark Mages are good

Manaketes are not as OP in Awakening as in other games, IIRC
