I can't really think of an easy way to randomize the setup. I think I'll just go on random.org and keep rolling numbers (rerolling invalid ones) until all the factions are filled.

(let me know if you know of an easier way to do this)

This also looks stupidly townsided.

One problem that we didn't notice before. Is 139 meant to be an informed role or a cop? If you want the informed, you need the informed modifier. I don't think we can change it now because it might tip people off, but I can probably fix the issue by adding a clause to the rules that when the name of a role contradicts what is written under it, I will ignore what is written and the role will do what its name says it does. Not a perfect solution, but it's the best I can think of.

I'm worried it might be because if someone checks the thread and sees an edit from today, they might correctly assume that there was an error we only caught because we rolled the post.

you could disguise it by me editing all the errata'd roles since i don't think i actually edited the thread for them

i'd then post something to the NIM thread saying "in light of a game of this being run, i have updated the roles in the thread that were either not normal or unclear. this is the most recent revision of NIM, and will be used for any games that are run."

that might also count as attempting to influence the game...

Someone could still notice it isn't on the list in the discussion thread though, or you could edit that list and that would be noticeable too, just not as bad because it puts it within 4 roles.

It might be. Idk. I don't see a way to actually edit the role to do what you want it to do without giving something away. I could also write the clause the other way and allow edits to the names of roles to match the intended function as written underneath the role.
Either way, you're right that this could count as influencing the game, so I think it may be a good idea for me to reroll the setup after the decision is made.

I'd also errata that specific post and add a rule covering a mismatch between role name and role description, as Alianna suggested.
