LSG Mod Matchmaking Quiz ~ Revealed!

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Sun Aug 27, 2023 1:43 pm

Post by Ariel »

Since we missed the 2023 Valentine's Day Quiz...

Some time the week of September 25th, I will matchmake some teams (of 2-4 prospective mods) and post a ~grand reveal~ here based on everyone's answers. To provide some entertainment in the interim, I might also provide some individual results prior to that (in the vein of typical quizzes). I will be V/LA a good amount this month though, so keep your expectations low.

The intention is for this to be a mini community event type thread. It'd be great if it sparks any interest or conversation surrounding modding LSGs, since we do have a shortage. Newbies to this part of the site are super welcome! Answer as best as you can.

We had one quiz taker opt out of the actual matchmaking, so this looks to be who's in the pool. Feel free to rabble before our first reveal!

Team: Haschel Cedricson • Xalxe • T-Bone

• Haschel Cedricson and Xalxe are both veteran mods that are willing to be workhorses alongside a reliable team. Xalxe will benefit from teammates' knowledge of the current meta.
• T-Bone will benefit from teammates' experience and technical skills while being able to bounce off design ideas and assist a lot with the day to day.
• Based on the survey, this team may be more prepared to take on a new modding commitment sooner, and seemed to match well on themes.

Game Type:
• Vanilla/Standard Survivor

Potential Themes:
• Simvivor / Generic Survivor theme
• Original theme

Team: VashtaNeurotic • Snakes • Cheery Dog • N

• This match brings varied Survivor experiences and perspectives that can creatively culminate in a more complex game with fun challenges.
• This team has a high baseline of tech skills - we would expect a pretty forum and some smooth back-end operations from them, likely led by Vash.
• Design progress might be a slow burn pace due to current commitments and due to not having a team member that favors writing. At game start, other team members would benefit from Snakes's capacity to handle much of the day to day.
• I figure N would be effective at nagging Cheery, which Cheery did request. Also, if this team decides to incorporate a Zeeple Dome challenge, N presumably will test it.

Game Type:

• Advanced/Complex Survivor

Potential Themes:

• Buffy the Vampire Slayer
• Lord of the Rings
• Another art & lore-heavy theme

Team: kdowns • Klick • Espeonage

• kdowns is the most experienced mod on this team. Teammates will benefit from his knowledge of modding basics. In turn, he will benefit from teammates telling him if he's "dreaming too big." Survey says Klick and Espeonage have this skill and have valuable perspectives from their experiences playing LSGs.
• These three gamers seem apt to bring us a well-developed video game theme, but could surprise us with something else.
• Overall, this team seems to have a balanced skillset that'll help them tackle things together, and a mutual desire to create an exciting game of Survivor.

Game Type:

• Vanilla/Standard Survivor

Potential Themes:

• Baldur's Gate
• Pokemon/Digimon
• Musicals
• Video game or TV show of mutual interest

Team: PrivateI • mallowgeno • Ariel

• Monty is the most veteran mod on this team, but everyone in this match has modding experience with non-Survivor LSGs. Both mallowgeno & Ariel specifically indicated interest in non-Survivor games.
• Based on the survey, teammates would benefit greatly from Monty's creativity. mallowgeno brings a balance of skills to the table with an emphasis on design prior to go-live. Ariel could take lead on technical aspects & writing stuff up.

Game Type:

• Mole • The Amazing Race
• Reality Show X • Other

Potential Themes:

• Mystery • Haunted House
• Colours

Team: Cephrir • Searl • racefan12

• This is probably the most 'obvious' match if we ignored the survey since Cephrir and Searl have modded together before, but the survey seemed to support it!
• Searl and racefan12 seem to have especially complementary strengths.
• Cephrir is a veteran Survivor mod that has interest in taking more of a supporting role on an upcoming project.
• Based on your responses, the three of you didn't seem ready to pursue a new modding commitment immediately.

Game Type:
• Vanilla/Standard Survivor

Potential Themes:
• NASCAR
• Discworld
• Video game of mutual interest
