Which I get. But maybe the vig should be deactivated by the death of the flagholder regardless. Make them an enabler role. Then it is up to scum to prevent this my sacrificing them to save the goon.
It adds a cool mechanic to the mix and some dramatic decisions to be made for scum, whether to sacrifice to get rid of the enabler or leave the vig possibility alive. I'd say it still is a 1-shot that is shared, it just created a different way for scum to deactivate it.

also this game ended on Day 1.5 which is an accomplishment in somehow managing to find a way to make an open setup end on a non-integer day

But a proper setup does consider this possibility. If it is broken so easily then it was never proper to begin with. That's part of game creation and balancing and is integral to creating a game.

If it were considered, there are plenty of fixes that could be offered. I mean, we just workshopped a bunch of them! The setup is easily salvageable with a tweak or two, and can become pretty nuanced very quickly.

Town could really only win if at least 1 Mafia died on D1.

That's why in my dayvig game I had dayvigs disabled in ELO and made it impossible for town to try to "save dayvigs" for a point after scum equalizes.

Are you guys up for another game? I would like to run a variation where town has exactly one Dayvig and it never gets disabled unless mafia achieves 1v1 parity.
