. The wind has not been in our favor for nearly a week, and this windless sea does not feel natural. My crew grows restless. I fear it is only a matter of days before blood is shed. I put quill to parchment in the hopes that our story is not lost to time - though I fear the worst. If tomorrow the winds return, this missive will be for naught.

I saw a raven on the masthead today. Not even the seagulls come this far out. I fear my days are numbered. If you receive this, we estimate we are four leagues due east of the Royal Strait. My days may be numbered, but there are still souls worth saving in my crew.

- Do not use encryption, hidden text or excessively small text in your posts.
- Do not use any form of provable randomness. This includes dice tags, screenshots of random.org, etc. Saying you flipped a coin is okay, providing some sort of proof that you did isn’t.
- Each day phase will last for 12 days, with night phases lasting 48 hours.

- My decisions are final. If I feel you are violating any of the rules, I will take the appropriate action.

VOTING

Spoiler:

- All votes and unvotes must be in bold or in VOTE: tags, with vote tags being preferable.
- Votes in spoilers will not be counted.
- Abbreviations and nicknames are acceptable, as long as I can understand them.
- Eliminations will occur when a majority (>50%) is reached. If no majority is reached before deadline, the player with the most votes will be eliminated. Ties will be resolved by wagon seniority. If the day ends with no votes cast, a random town-aligned player will die.

Mechanics:

• The first two nights are skipped.

• Day 1 and Day 2, if a member of the Mafia is eliminated, they must confirm 5 living players to be aligned with the town.

• This will result in their loss if Mafia is eliminated both Day 1 and Day 2.

Starting from Day 3, the Mafia will begin escaping.

• Each night, in addition to a mandatory kill, one of the Mafia must choose to escape, and will exit the game being revealed to be Mafia.

• At this point, if just one of the Mafia is eliminated, the Mafia loses.

• The Mafia win when all living members escape.

• If no Mafia were eliminated Day 1 or Day 2, one member of the mafia will escape immediately following the end of Day 2.

"Cap'n?" A monotone voice sounded from behind Dannflor.

But he never got a chance to turn around.

BANG. The sound of gunfire echoed across the deck.

And thus ended the story of Captain Dann.

Hello everyone, I'm excited to get to play again after almost a year off. Some of you I recognize, many of you I do not, but I am looking forward to playing with you either way!

My work-life balance has changed drastically since I was last active and I am much busier than before. Concretely, I am aiming for somewhere in the realm of 5 to 10 posts per real-life day. Before the game was declared filled, I edited my /in to reflect this goal, so be assured it is neutral.

The takeaway: Reading into any future absence, or any unwillingness to engage in instantaneous and quick-paced conversation, is likely to be a mistake. In return, while I will not post often, I will try to make those posts count.

Given my light posting, it might also be helpful to give a more substantive introduction, akin to something you might get out of RQS.

I've been playing mafia for over 13 years now across various mediums, and almost exclusively on MS the last 3 or 4 years. Traditionally, I am a scum specialist, but I grew very bored of the alignment after 2018, and I greatly prefer town rolls (Yay!). The puzzle element has appealed to me more over time, and I really enjoy the concept of harmonizing with and amplifying the strengths of other players, even though it rarely works out that way. I'm also glad to avoid the scum roll because I've grown rusty over time, and am no longer as willing to go as far as I once might have to control a game, so now I don't have the pressure of living up to my own high standards.

I like this setup a lot. I like games with a mountainous feel and minimum mechanics that allow us to focus on dayplay. The escape feature is a good compensation that encourages very dynamic and fascinating scumplay, and I like the possibility of being cleared, particularly at a time when I see myself being less concerned with instantaneous conversations and connections. The last time it was run, I played under the name Faker and managed to get some fairly accurate reads. While I'm not counting on it, hopefully I will be lucky enough to repeat the performance.

I also have no pronoun preference: refer to me however you like, so long as we can tell it's me!
