general:
- please adhere to the
site rules. also check out
these clarifications. site rules supersede my own.
- the word "lynch" shall not be used. please keep this in mind if you come from a different mafia community that uses the term. that word holds the weight of some really terrible history behind it, and as such, its usage in games has been banned from this site for a couple of years.
- play to win (but also play to have fun, too).
- do not discuss this game of mafia outside of this thread or any private topics that i have created.
- do not engage in trust tells or other out-of-game influences (such as bets, public musings on replacing out, public accusations of rule violations, etc).
- do not take any action that attempts to prove the existence of private game communications. this includes sharing links, post numbers, or screenshots of private threads, directly quoting instead of paraphrasing, sharing images, or discussing formatting/styling. you are allowed to claim that these communications exist, and you are allowed to paraphrase, as long as you do not attempt to provide evidence.
- if you have any questions about your role, or the game, feel free to privately message me. if i'm asked a question publicly, i will try to answer it as accurately as i can without divulging secret setup information. this is an open setup so there isn't really anything too secret but yeah.
- dead players may not post. this includes "bah" posts and the twilight phase before post-game.
- pretending to break a rule will be treated as if the rule was broken.
voting / player actions:
- vote either with vote tags (
VOTE: skygazer) or with bold (
vote: skyg
). note that nicknames, abbreviations and acronyms are acceptable, as long as the intended vote is obvious. i will state if a vote isn't obvious.
- i will not count any votes that don't have a colon (use
vote: skyg
, not
vote skyg
).
- don't try to confuse me with your votes.
- an execution will occur once a majority decision is reached. if no majority is reached, the day phase will end peacefully.
- following an execution, it is twilight. everyone alive, including the player executed, may continue to post until i lock the thread.
- after the twilight phase, i will reveal the role and alignment of the executed player and the night phase shall begin.
- if you have a night action, you may submit it from night one and each subsequent night phase (or whichever nights are specified by the role).
deadlines / activity:
- day phases will last up to 10 "real life" days.
- night phases will last 48 hours maximum. on any given night, if all players pm me that they are okay to speed up the night, it will end sooner.
- during the day, you are expected to post at least once every 48 hours. if you haven't posted for 48 hours, i shall prod you. if you do not respond to the prod within 24 hours (either in thread if possible, or via pm if the thread is locked) then i will replace you (with an occasional potential for some leeway).
- as well, if you require more than three prods (ie: four prods), you might be replaced.
- declaring v/la in this thread will pause your prod timer (for up to a "reasonable amount of time").
- if you decide to replace out, please pm me and don't post in thread after doing so; if you want to rescind the replacement please pm me again and don't post in thread until you hear back.
- it is against site rules to suggest you may replace out. it is against site rules to tell another player to replace out.
misc:
- no impossible/hard to read text, or cryptography. for example, i would prefer that no font size smaller than the one you're reading now be used.
- don't attempt to prove the randomization of an in-game action. you can claim you randomized an action, just don't try to prove it.
- don't edit or delete posts if you have the ability to do so.
- clearly label any posts generated by machine learning as such, and don't use machine learning to play the game for you.
- the mod may make mistakes; please point out any mistakes gently. mistakes will be corrected where possible, but sometimes mistakes are made that cannot be reversed. these will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
- if you need to get the mod's attention, either pm me, or bold the text you wish to draw to my attention (something like "
@mod
" or "
hey skygazer, answer my question, also you suck!
" will probably work).
- i reserve the right to alter/remove/add any rules as i see fit. you will, of course, be notified if that happens, however.
