I'm an American that recently moved to Ireland. I thought it might be interesting to share/vent about some of my experiences related to that. It's cool if other people who can relate to some extent also use this thread though.

job search statistics to-date (to be fair, "the holidays" is probably not the best time to expect responses. a radio presenter said it was "still the middle of christmas" on the 4th of january....)

Thank you Fenchurch! Easter Meet is still on the bucket list but I don't think this will end up being the year to check it off

An Irish competition show that I enjoy (and that is difficult to watch outside of the country :() is Ireland's Fittest Family. I also wondered if it has any merit for a future Clash of the Mash format, but I'll leave that to the List Mods haha. The teams are comprised of four (typically immediate) family members 14 & older, so you might have dad/2 sisters/brother, etc. They compete in events to make it through the Heats, Quarterfinals, Semifinals and Finale, and the winning family gets a relatively low cash prize. One event, for example, would be three family members carry as many potatoes from one end of a storage shed to another, as long as their fourth member can stay balanced on one leg on a beam above them. Also, each family is assigned to one of four coaches that are professional athletes. The coaches not only help with strategizing, but also I think help keep the tone of the show lighter - a lot of the narratives/rivalries focus on the coaches.

hi schadd!

3 job interviews this week. got a nice rejection after the first one and I'm not confident on the others, but it's good practice. I got to the right parking lot like 25 minutes early for the third one but couldn't find the building and had no way to contact the company I was interviewing with directly so that was FUN!!

the main issue that caused me to call it melodrama is resolved. however, they haven't confirmed all of my paperwork is good yet. I was a named driver on a policy of my former insurance company. I needed paperwork from past insurance for the past several years to get a better rate showing I wasn't involved in car accidents/claims etc. that company had on record saying i was the driver in an accident that i was the passenger for. (which was a fun incident btw, i got in a car accident the same day i was going on an international flight and my neck hurt so bad on the uncomfortable plane seat...) the insurer was blaming Oregon DMV and saying it would probably be difficult to fix and prove my innocence. but Oregon DMV didn't actually have that on record.
