When 50% of the living players are scum, a Judgment Day occurs. All living players lose the ability to vote. The martyrs privately vote in the martyr PT to send a living player to hell. If the player is town, the Mafia win. If not, the game moves on to a hell phase.

to be fair i feel like this is not entirely clear although i understand now that the earlier thing still applies

If it helps I didn't understand the setup well until I went to Heaven because I just wanted some dayplay and didn't care about the mech.

I tried to make it clearer in the op with "If that player is scum, either Town wins or the game continues to a hell phase, depending on if town's wincon was fulfilled."

I think it's pretty common to misunderstand parts of a fairly complex setup the first time you play tho and it certainly didn't hinder you much
