March 18 - "Get to Know a (lot of) Scummer(s)" Day

A picture's worth a thousand words, but that doesn't tell us the whole story. Tell us a little bit about yourself today - your hobbies outside of mafiascum, your goals and dreams, something unique and interesting about you - or if you can't think of anything, bump your GTKAS thread or, if you don't have one, sign up and have people do the work of thinking of things for you to tell for you. March 19 - "Role for Initiative" Day

Today, we celebrate the spice in our games: Roles! Have a great new Role idea that you want to run by the MD crowd? There's a thread for that. Have a hilariously bad idea? There's a thread for that too. Want to just talk about your favorite role to play or a cool role you invented? There's also a thread for that (It's this one!)

I myself am credited with the invention of a role: The Mailman, which I invented 20 odd years ago for Newman in an AIM Seinfeld UPick.

I've created (or at least named) the "displaced Watcher" trio of roles known as Security Guard, Visionary, and Role Guard.

I've also created the BooneyToonz roles Thaumaturge, Mediator, and Divine Protector.


Here are some other places to submit role ideas:

Collaborative Decks:
Grand Idea Mafia - the primary collaborative deck, anything can happen. Role cards usually have an alignment attached to them.
The Alignment Baked Library of Atypical Factions - A collaborative deck based on non-standard factions, roles and alignments must be submitted separately.
Superb Idea Mafia - A collaborative deck intended to be played with fixed alignment ratios, each post must include a town, mafia, and third-party role card.
Nobody Stays Good! - A collaborative deck played with a morality mechanic, nerfing your roles at low morality and making your roles outright negative utility at zero morality.

My main credit wrt inventing roles is “Strongwilled”, which I initially crafted as the active role “Willbooster” back in the days of the normal graylist. I also cooked up “Desperate” but it’s so convoluted to remember how it should function that I lowkey think it should be buried.

The role I invented was so good they retired the scummy for creating roles

I fakeclaimed a role in Veiled Committee Mafia: List Mods Edition (it's a xyzzy game so you know it's gonna be insane) and then made it into an Inventor-style role that could give out modifiers to other players. I then later used it in a mini theme game which I publicly disclosed was made "like a normal" and then just didn't tell the Town that there were aliens.
