Setup Information


Overview


1. This game uses the setup Haunted Village. Possible roles and setups, as well as the method for determining the setup, are discussed in this post and in the Haunted Village wiki page, which I have linked at the beginning of the first post. If something in this post contradicts something written in the wiki page, this post takes precedence.
2. The faction distribution is 10

Setup Generation


4. The
village
starts with a random number of ascension points between 5 and 9. The
undead
start with that number minus three.
5. The
village
are then randomly assigned roles whose combined worth equals their ascension points. The chance for each role to appear is the following (note that probabilities may skew once only 1 or 2 points remain):
  • priest
    - 25% (1-25)
  • witch hunter
    - 20% (26-45)
  • sorceress
    - 15% (46-60)
  • enchantress
    - 10% (61-70)
  • healer
    - 10% (71-80)
  • angel
    - 10% (81-90)
  • trickster
    - 10% (91-100)
6. The
undead
are told which
village
roles are in the game, but not how many of each role exists, and have 24 hours to pick their own powers from their pool (no duplicate roles allowed except for
ghoul
). If they fail, I will randomly assign them powers. Power roles that would be functionally vanilla will be removed from the pool (i.e. no
banshee
if its strong kill can't be utilised).
7. To have all role PMs out at the same time, alignments will be randomized first and all players will receive alignment PMs. Full role PMs will be sent only after the undead have made their selections.
8. Players are required to confirm their role and alignment within 48 hours of receiving their full role PM. The game will begin at that point or after I have received 10/13 confirmations.
9. The
undead
roles in the game will be publicly announced on D1.


Win Conditions


10. Each faction wins if all players not aligned with that faction are dead and a minimum of one player aligned with that faction is alive.
11. The game will be declared a draw if:
- all living players request one (this must be done via PM)
- everyone dies
- no one dies for three consecutive day-night cycles (or six consecutive phases)
- the game reaches a position in which one of the above is inevitable or no side has the means to meet its win condition
12. The
undead
faction may concede if all of its living members wish to.


Miscellaneous


13. Global daytalk is enabled, meaning all PTs are open at all times.
14. Inherent multitasking is enabled, meaning that by default, players may perform up to one personal action and one factional action per night.

Rules


I've
bolded
some rules that I want to draw attention to. If you aren't going to read the whole ruleset, please at least read those parts.

General


1. Please abide by all site rules.
2.
Toxic and otherwise harmful behaviour will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
- flaming, insulting, or directing personal attacks at other players
- use of slurs or derogatory language
- intentionally or repeatedly misgendering other players
- spamming
- excessive appeals to emotion
- excessive discussion of real life issues (a mention is fine, but please don't derail the game or use this thread as a place to vent)
- otherwise being a jerk or making the game unenjoyable for others

3. Play to your win condition.
4. Do not bring out-of-game influences into the game. This includes trust tells, threats, bribes, wagers, promises, alliances, etc. This also includes exploiting the site or game rules to gain an in-game advantage.
5.
If you wish to replace out, request replacement via private message. Do not discuss replacing out in the public thread, suggest that another player replace out, or otherwise publicly discuss replacements that have not yet occurred.

6. Replacing out because of your alignment or to gain a mafia-related advantage is considered a tactical replace-out. Do not replace out tactically or publicly speculate that another player has done so.
7. Once you request replacement or I notify you that you are being replaced, it is final. You cease to be a player in the game and may no longer post. You may not replace back into your slot.
8. Dead bodies don't talk...unless your role PM says otherwise! But unless you're a zombie, after your death is announced in the game thread, you may no longer post in the game thread or any associated private topics other than the spectator thread.
9.
Do not discuss this game outside of the game thread and associated private topics, and do not discuss other ongoing games in this game.

10. Do not take any action that attempts to prove the existence of private game communications. You are allowed to claim that these communications exist as long as you do not attempt to provide evidence. Private communications include:
- communications with the moderator, including your role PM
- posts from any game-related private topic
Evidence of private communications includes:
- quotes
- screenshots
- direct copy-pasting
- timestamps, whether rough or exact
- post links or numbers of posts in private topics
- descriptions of formatting/styling/wording
11. Do not use provable randomness. Claiming to have rolled a die, for example, is fine; using dice tags is not.
12. Do not use cryptography, invisible text, or text under size 75.
13. If you have the power to edit or delete posts, refrain from using it.
14. My mod colour this game is

15. In the past, the word "lynch" referred to the town's elimination method. Due to the racially charged history of lynchings in the USA, Mafiascum no longer allows this word to be used. Alternatives include:

16. Pretending to break a rule or attempting to provoke someone into breaking a rule is itself a violation of the rules.
17.
Moderation actions will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the individual circumstances. Player alignment does not factor into mod rulings; please do not use moderation actions to speculate on the alignments of other players.

18. If you believe I have made a mistake (excluding minor mistakes like VC errors), please contact me about it via private message.
If you believe another player is breaking the rules, please privately contact me or one of the
Listmods
who is not also a player in the game. Public speculation or accusation that another player is breaking the rules is not permitted.

19. I reserve the right to alter the ruleset. Any rules changes will be announced in the game thread.


Activity


20. At minimum, you must post in the game thread once every 48 hours. If you fail to do so, you will be prodded.
21. You must pick up your prod within 24 hours or be replaced. I am somewhat lenient about prod dodges as long as they are followed up with game-relevant content within a reasonable period of time.
22. If you accumulate 4 prods, you will be replaced.
23. If you are going to be absent for longer than 48 hours, please declare V/LA (vacation/limited access) in thread or by private message. Players on V/LA will not be prodded.
24. Any player who does not post anything game-relevant for 4 consecutive days will be replaced. This rule applies regardless of V/LA status. If you foresee that this will be the case for you, please request replacement.


Deadlines


25. Days have a 7-day deadline. Nights have a 2-day deadline.
26. Deadline extensions may be granted in special circumstances. Requests for extensions will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
27. If the day deadline hits 48 hours or the night deadline hits 24 hours with one or more replacements pending, it will be frozen until all slots are filled. If a slot is vacated while the day deadline is below 48 hours or the night deadline is below 24 hours, it will be reset to 48 or 24 hours and then frozen until the slot is filled.
28. Fast night is available if all living players, including those without night actions, request it.


Voting and Execution


29. Votes and unvotes must be bolded in the format
VOTE: Player
or in vote/unvote tags (VOTE: Player). Vote/unvote tags are preferred.
30. I will not count votes that are:
- unclear
- improperly formatted
- in spoilers or obviously broken quotes
-
struck through
or purposely obfuscated in any other way
31. An execution occurs when a majority (>50%) of players vote to execute someone. If no majority is reached by the deadline, no one will be executed.
32. You may vote not to execute anyone (VOTE: No Execution). If the number of living players is even, only 50% of players must agree to secure a no-execution.
33. Once the hammer vote is cast, the day’s fate is sealed. Discussion may continue into the twilight, but no further votes or unvotes will be counted.
34. It takes 100% of living players +1 to execute the moderator. Please do not collaborate with the spectators to start a riot (though it’s not like I could do anything about it if you did, as I would be dead and dead bodies don’t talk).


Night Actions


35. I will accept your most recent night action submission before the deadline. You may change your night action as many times as you like before then. If you do not submit a night action before the deadline, you will not take one.
36. The mafia must specify who is performing the factional kill.
37. I require all players to submit or sign off on their own personal actions.


Private Topics


38. If you would like a notes PT, you may request one. You can state that you have a notes PT, but you may not attempt to use it to prove you are working from a town mindset (real or fabricated).
39.
All private topics shared by two or more players will be released unredacted after the game ends.
If you have a notes PT, it is up to you what you would like to do with it, and you will have the moderator privileges to do it yourself.

how would you even do this?
7 roles
make a set with the roles
get all subsets of 3-8 roles allowing repeats
assign each role a number
convert the roles to numbers
sum them
remove all that don't sum to 8
convert the remaining ones back to roles

That's way too convoluted

there must be a way to assigned a numerical value to each role prior to finding subsets
is that what dictionaries do?
then allocate to sets, summing as you go, removing any that go over

no idea how to code that
