Conspiracy in Shadyville - Revealed

Post Post #0 (ISO) » Sat Jun 05, 2004 12:21 pm

Ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to...
Conspiracy in Shadyville!

Info about the game, too much to squeeze into the first post, will be collected in the following links:

* The all important Rules and Guidelines.
* A List of the town's Citizens and Factions.
* The town's Map.

Other bits and pieces:
(just in case I forget anything along the way)
* The game will end no later than the morning of Day 8, at which time I will reveal everything and declare the winner(s). Everyone will be individually assesed based mainly on whether they achieved their objectives.
* The game starts at Day, meaning the night 1 happenings have been pre-determined by me. Just in case there was any confusion there.
* In Shadyville, vigilantism is against the law, and there is no capital punishment. Prison is as bad as it gets. Being in prison constitutes being out of the game. Being in the police lock-up does not. All citixens are entitled to due process.
* You may not leave the town, unless it states explicitly in your role PM. The game is geographically restricted to the map you can see.
* I thought I got this across when outlining the games. There is no lynching in this game.

Citizens of the town:
(almost listed alphabetically)
  • Phoebus
    - Newsman [He's just here for decoration, honestly.]

Introduction:

Shadyville is a small town with a population of about 13 people. The streets are peaceful, but only because the people are paranoid and extremely careful. There is a distinct lack of trust in the town even for the civil servants. One month this was heightened by news of a terrorist group operating in the town, and around the same time, a large pharmaceutical company set up a branch in the town. On
Day 1
You wake up to a perfectly normal morning, get dressed, have a cup of tea, resisting the urge to switch on the news. But as you become more awake, you can just sense that something is on. You're not sure if it is the air you're breathing or the water you're drinking, or even the anoying sound of birds chirping outside, but you an literally feel in your bones that something is wrong. You just don't know what. Well, somebody does... so get yourself to the town meeting, and start asking questions. But first, you give in to curiosity, and switch on the news. So that is what you do, and this is what you see...

Morning news, courtesy of our local contraversial Newsman: shadyforce:

Good morning citizens of Shadyville. Disappointingly, nothing major to report in the news. There was no freak meteor showers last night, and the our weather man has been fired as a result of the mistake. Maybe there will actually be an interesting town meeting for once, but I'm not getting my hopes up. If it's anything like yesterday's, then we can expect more in depth discussion about feeding the town's ducks, litter in the uptown area, and if we're really lucky... creepy sounds from outside the abandoned wearhouse. What this town needs is a good crisis...

At the daily (and mandatory) town meeting:

The following is the list of people present:
  • Dragon Slayer - GlobalDrug PRO
  • Fishbulb - Forensic Expert
  • Flying Dutchman - Civil Servant
  • Korais666 - Security Guy
  • Mathcam - Trader
  • Narninian - Police Chief
  • Phoebus - Librarian
  • the silent speaker - Mayor
  • Thoth - Police Deputy
  • Uraj45 - Doctor
  • ZONEACE - GlobalDrug Technician
Day 1 has begun...

Yay! Started!

To start with transactions: I have nothing I wish to trade, I have money, though. Anybody anything to sell?

SatiricalBob is Shady's blind account, so we shouldn't be expecting that one to come back :)

Oh, still mafia!

Vote: The Silent Speaker

There is no lynch in this game. You want to find scum, you do it the real life way, ie. the local law enforcement.

Greetings.
Have some money here as well. I suspect that's the case with everyone.
Nothing to sell either. Who are the sellers and what goods do you have and what kind of costs can we expect? etc.

Well here's what I'm wondering: Dragon Slayer and Zoneace, could either of you guys possibly supply me with drugs? I've got my nifty little medical kit but it would make sense that I could get drugs from you to help people. I suspect that cooperation will be very important in this game.
Don't quite know what to make of the satiricalbob thing other then the fact that it's almost certainly significant.

No I understand that. But look, we're on the lookout for
conspiracies

take a look at the role: GlobalDrug Researcher
I see two other people witht that title. That to me means that we should at least be on the lookout for something.

I dont have anything, currently that would be of use to you. If you give me 2 nights i might be able to figure something out. At ngiht i can test certain samples and fiddle with them. So if any of my doing that results in something that would be useful, then We can talk.

I see only one person with that role, and he's not likely to come back...... :?

I especially want to hear from Mathcam, as a shop owner you'd expect he has something to sell........

Okay, all caught up. This promises to be an awesome game, methinks.

I'm glad to hear people have money. I, on the other hand, have a variety of wares but no cash. I can get just about anything anyone needs, but I have no way of getting it unless you pre-pay and are willing to wait a day...at least until I manage to scrape together some profit of my own.

I do, however, have some items in my current inventory that would be of definite use to some players in the town. I'm contemplating holding a blind auction. Players post bids in the thread for one of my random objects, and the winner pays me that amount.

Narninian, I'd like to hear more about your role. In particular, does a crime need to be committed before you can put someone in a holding cell? Or can you just throw people in jail willy nilly?

What sort of items have you got?
I'm also curious what part of the Civil Service Korais is in, and the extent of Phoebus's library.
I think it's pretty clear that TSS's awesomeness did alter the roles each of us recieved, and thus he's obviously pro-town. -- Save The Dragons

Just making sure you're all aware of the scheduled end for day 1:

Day 1 will end at 2359, Tuesday 15th. You may extend the deadline if people want more time, or shorten it if there you are eager to get to night.

That's about 168 hours from, now (= 7 days = 1 week.)

Absolutely, when we have them. As long as you have some money  . I, too would like to know what kind of stuff Mathcam plan's on selling.
Ever wonder why that edit button is obnoxiously placed in the center like that? Yeah, that's cause of me.. and trust me, it's better off there.

Hello everyone.

Not much to add as of yet. There really isn't anything I'd like to buy, or sell for that matter. Mostly, I am interested in what our Police Chief and Deputy have to say about the disappearance of SatiricalBob.

Well honestly Cam, how much competition would there be? I mean, I really don't have any use for handcuffs and I dont think Narnian would want a syringe.

Well at this stage, I think pretty much everyone should be interested in every item. Who knows when it will be useful, or whether they can sell it back to someone else for a profit? Say you buy the handcuffs for a cheap $300 now, and later it turns out that the cop is out of the game if he can't pick up a pair of them today. You could take Narninian for all he's worth. (Sorry Narninian, just an example).

I won't reveal the items I have, but 2 out of 3 I would say are associated with specific roles, while the other could be considered more general purpose. So FD, you should specify which of the these types of items you are bidding for.

Also, I should point out that while I can go get just about anything you can possibly desire (for the right price, of course), it leaves me without any other possibilities for night choices. So it'll have to be a relatively sweet deal for me, to compensate for all the money I
could've
made sticking around town.

Phoebus, I'm interested in the history of our city.
