Rules
(Stolen, and modified, from Oman, who stole them from Crub, who probably stole them from meme in some way)
[01] Votes must be in bold, and at or near the start of a line. If I don't notice your vote, it doesn't count.
[02] You do not need to unvote before voting.
[03] Lynching will require a simple majority of votes. Once a player has reached the necessary majority, their pleas are useless and any attempts to unvote will be unheeded. Feel free to post and pm in twilight, though.
[04] You may vote: no lynch. Majority votes of this kind are necessary to end the day without a death.
[05] Day 1 will have a deadline of 6 weeks. Later days will have a deadline of 2 weeks plus any unused time from the previous deadline. It requires a majority of votes from all players active and voting to lynch at deadline, otherwise no one will be lynched. I won't extend the deadline if you ask.
[06] Do not discuss this game outside the thread unless your role states it. No-one may post in the thread when I declare it night (In case I don't lock it).
[07] If your role allows you to talk privately with a group at night, you can daytalk for the first week of play.
[08] Once your death scene has been posted, you’re dead. Stop typing. Not even a “Bah!” post. Just, just stop. Fingers off the keys. You're no longer breathing. If you really want to say something, PM me and I'll post it when the game ends.
[09] No small or invisible text. Don’t edit/delete previously submitted posts either.
[10] Don’t quote any PMs from me or other players. If you do, I will cast Summon Nature's Modkill V on you. Also, if you have anything sneaky or dicey such as screenshots, cryptography etc, please PM me and check. Exception: If your role says you can talk with someone at night, you may send them a copy of your role PM.
[11] If you have a night choice to make, it is due by the posted deadline. I will not wait for you. If you do not submit a choice to me, you will do nothing. If you have a power and don't want to use it PM me "none" "no action" or similar to keep the game fast.
[12] If you anticipate being unavailable for more than a 48-hour period, please post a notice to that effect in the thread or PM me. Treat this game as a commitment. Be considerate – don’t leave us hanging.
[13] Unlike Crub I am not fallible. Please point out any mistakes you make by PM, even if it seems its my fault. In particular, if I post a vote count that does not accurately reflect your vote, please PM me.
[14] There is no Rule 14
[15] Red texts are my mod texts. Please don't use them. I know what I write, and if you try to pass yourself off as me, you shall feel pain.
[16] Play to win this game. Do not use it to build a meta-game of yourself for other games, this game is an island. Also, all players must read their role PMs and understand their role before playing. If you have a question PM me.
[17] Remember, it’s a game and it’s supposed to be fun. Be nice to your fellow players and your mod.

Sample Role PM
You are the goddamn batman.
(A) You learn the target player's alignment.
(A) You kill the target player.
(A) You roleblock the target player, preventing their active and passive abilities from working that night.
(A) You protect the target player from a single active or passive ability that would kill them that night.
(P) If you are the target of an active or passive kill ability, you kill the player who targeted you.
(S) You can't be day or night killed, although you can be lynched.
(W) You win when all the scum are eliminated, even if you're dead.
Your abilities will be broken into (A)ctive abilities, (P)assive abilities, (S)tatic abilities, and your (W)in condition. If you have multiple active abilities you can only use one each night. All actions will be resolved according to natural action resolution.

Note to town: I have a vague idea that this initial votecount has more relevance than just a starting point. It may outline connections or other information. As of now, I'm copying its current state into my notes, because if it contains any relevant information, Xyl is bound to change it eventually.

Scum and masons may daytalk for the first week of play.

Also, scum and masons may quote their role PMs to each other. (I'll change that rule.)

i would think it has something to do with power roles that those that have them have the most votes to intice them to be more active but thats just pure speculation

Mostly because otherwise I don't see what purpose it could serve. The only other thing that I could think of was to pre-empt a random voting stage, but since players are not responsible for votes that have been cast for them, there would be nothing to follow up on.

EBWOP: to clarify. I don't want any speculation about what the importance of the initial vote count is, not so early in the game, because at this point, it serves scum more than town by far.
