like I think a lot of what people on this site read as indicative of inexperienced scum is really more indicative of town that doesn't know site meta/culture yet

I don’t think it was a lie, I believe it was an accident. I just think the accident is more likely to come from maf doing a half-hearted job of scumhunting than an awesomely excited very eager to catch all of the mafia townie (hi you’re going down mafalafs)
why do you think town are *less* likely to make accidents and slips? considering that we are the uninformed faction? (i am aware this is kinda the opposite question of the one I asked black, but humour me)
unfamiliar with how often miller is gambitted. my instincts say it's more likely to be true though, as it takes out a lot of options for scum!koba. Well, I say that, but on second thoughts it is a pretty safeclaim actually. hmmmm. I'll pacify for now
i think the miller claim D1 can be left for now
like i have a very, very old instinct to policy lim claimed millers that i'm trying to get past

I don't like to play reactively, I think it makes it harder to develop a consistent understanding of the gamestate when I'm spending too much time worrying about what others are thinking of *me*
fyi, I thought your reasoning on me was a bit of a reach, but I've seen worse come from town 6 pages into a game
Would like some clarification on this as well, I kinda thought Ketchup was my spirit animal......but now fear I was just seeing myself in him a bit too much(play style wise).
Jacksons confidence he is showing scares me as well, stop being scary.
Ranger gets town points for her joke, well played ma'am

Is there any reason why you didn't say that when you read my reasoning? What do you think about the other votes on you?
because I was still thinking about whether it meant anything beyond "I'm town, but we're barely out of rvs and this is the best reason I have to SR someone". if you'd made the same vote D2, or even 20 pages in, it would have been a much more immediate red flag rather than just a yellow one
the other two votes seemed very sheep-y which I don't think means *that* much in the first five pages. python, it's very early but the few posts they've made don't feel like scum!python from the one game I've been in with them. koba seems very neutral (like beyond the vote, I've no reason to disbelieve the miller claim, I don't like the traitor soft joke but it's not something I want to read into without more evidence).
Will let Titus further develop her not remembering me claim.
In the meantime, I will mercilessly target the AFK slot.
I did this a lot in my first game as scum
again, I feel like the focus on ketchup is very much picking the low hanging fruit
I wouldn't classify ketchup as LHF at all. In the last game we played he was pretty obviously town. I'm not getting the same vibes here yet
in my first ever game on this site eight years ago, I did a decently good job (as town) of coming across as fairly obvious town. like, better than i've normally been able to replicate since. in my second I got mislimmed, day one, *as an innocent child*. i think from experience that in first games, it can be easier to maintain a high, productive, solve-y *energy* that's easy to TR, but hard to maintain when the first game novelty wears off but you don't yet have the experience to be *confident* in your play, and ketchup very much comes across like that to me rn

Outside of the one example you just gave about yourself, is there anything about Ketchup here that would support your theory?
I'll admit that its fundamentally based on vibes. but its an increasingly strong vibes read. the mindset behind posts like this gives unsure, uncomfortable town:
Would like some clarification on this as well, I kinda thought Ketchup was my spirit animal......but now fear I was just seeing myself in him a bit too much(play style wise).
The idea came after looking up what fencesitting meant and I was like woah, staying neutral? that sounds like something the mafia would do let’s not do that. but I assure my votes (at least by a couple days from now) will probably mostly be well thought out. Anyway, to answer the question of do i suspect Titus, ignoring post 244 for a sec, yes. A little bit. I wasn‘t expecting to be immediately attacked by any of the friends from a few weeks ago in their first post. And I thought I had made a friendly and recognisable reference to Titus, which I had expected to be reciprocated, but now was surprised when it was both ignored and she voted me.
With 244 having been posted, i guess Titus just gets around. 80,000 posts is a lot. Or she wasn’t truly invested in the last game idk. Anyway. It hurts, but it also explains her opening more.
Basically, I had definitely assumed Titus would remember me, even if we didn’t talk much. Context: I‘m pretty sure I had asked her to tell some interesting mafia stories at the end of a mini convo we‘d been having, but she was hammered before she could respond. So, on the assumption that she remembered me, her cold/standoffishish opening to me was weird.
I read the mindset behind the first paragraph here as "I want to be a productive townie, but I'm not sure how and I'm not sure why people started scumreading me even though I'm trying". It feels like genuine reactive frustration, in a way that doesn't come out as much once you've experienced it a few times (especially if we are used to it because we're admittedly not very good, but keep going because we're gluttons for punishment)
granted. do you have any actual thoughts about who might be scum, or town even?
yea ur mafia

heh at least you can read
I'm not sure I'm following the titus scumreads (koba/ketchup), either of you talk to me about it
Just their interactions they have had, seems 'off' to me, and not in a way two buddies would interact in game, at least early on.......but in a way that scum and a traitor would interact in game when they have 'found each other'.
Again, this is a bit tinfoily......but making me squint at both of them.
I do hope I can dance with both of them sometime soon to see if there is actually any juice to squeeze there.
I ISOed jackson and this is actually not a terrible point... I could easily see a world in which Jackson's RVS wolf claim was fishing for the group-scum.

last time you seemed convinced early on I was town (tho faltered at parts) so I am alarmed I have been significantly different enough to get you going the opposite way. mystical
You seem to default to the assumption the difference is with you?
am I being dumb? what’s the alternative? if you saw me in a new light, it was probably something I did
Do you not know why Black asked if you thought I was town?
In post 196, ketchup777 wrote:
mmm I’m more confused. I thought she was just doing a bit of general probing to put me under pressure and stuff. what are you getting at?
What I'm getting at is that it's weird that you seemingly are not considering that the difference is that I'm a wolf this game. You're thinking the difference is within you first and foremost, even when you're not town-reading me which would be the only reason I would imagine this not come across in your head.
Mmhmm

The "you seem to be on a similar wavelength" line in particular feels a lot like it could be fishing
Or, they seemed to be on a similar wavelength. Considering they seemingly caught exactly what I caught, and asked ketchup if they thought I was town because of that discrepency which I then brought up and talked about. Don't kid yourself

give us the tea, don't tease meeeeeeeeee
the tea was that i reevaluated jackson to more towny
I was hoping for something spicier, but I see nothing wrong with that
koba making this joke in a way that lets people laugh it off as a joke but would get a miller to say something feels kinda bad
why would mafia benefit from knowing who's a miller? if i understand correctly, something like 'miller gunsmith' is possible? or is miller a role not a modifier
This is a setup where
is a realistic possibility that scum have to play around. In that example not claiming miller would be a pretty big scumclaim that scum could easily walk into
why are we doing day one setup speculation on the basis of one miller claim
like if theres something I'm missing here pls do tell
Every post is a regression to the mean. She goes to defend people as soon as anyone posts a scumread, pushing against them as if they don't want any scum to be found. No strong reads or votes. Even L_G voting for me isn't "Lap is scum," it's "lets see where this goes".
I love getting scumread for asking questions to other players about their reads, in a game of social deduction
and just for reference
"lets see where this goes" = I'm voting you because I want to see how you respond to help me sort you
and you've responded with a delayed OMGUS vote on the other top wagon
usesPython: great catch in 813. I can't see scum cross-referencing lists & pages like that.
ketchup: while I don't agree with their reads, they're actively trying to scumhunt and think
drew: good logic, I like how he argued with both usesPython and JV
neutral:
HT: i said they were towny earlier, but that dropped back to neutral after mischaracterizng me in JOAT.
JacksonVirgo: frustation over tunneling chat seems genuine. But I can't tell is frustration is from not wanting to admit tunnel or scum mad that their pushed collapsed. good taste in gifs tho
DkKoba: miller claim, ignore until d3 unless something super scummy happens
scummy:
Ranger: still dont like dem magic lists. Super easy to fake the progression to just coast along with prevailing opinions while looking like you're scumhunting
light_ganski: see 827
Everyone else either has low posts or I'm having trouble reading still.
you say "reads list time" but this is barely even a reads list. you've only actually sorted 5 out of 13 players, you're town reading someone because "you can't see scum referencing" (something I regularly do as scum, and I'm a lazy scum player ffs) and your reason for SRing one of them is that... you don't like reads lists... that she's known to make in every game as both alignments. this whole post reeks of "look at me, I'm being productive" whilst barely saying anything of substance.
plus you put more than a third of the players you bother to list in neutral, after scum reading me because i'm apparently hedging
