Re: Setup: I agree with Spyspy, a lot of responsibility does fall on the VTs. I wouldn't say the setup is inbalanced, since not only do mafia suicide upon hitting a VT, but you can't even kill off those VTs if you want to!

If anything, Dram was the only VT who played like a mason.

I think part of this setup that intrigues me is, ultimately, how much weight is on the VT's.

A group of hard and fast VT's that can start making reads and holding to them hard enough that they draw mason-shots early could be catastrophic for scum.

Yeah, I was kind of disappointed that aside from Fate, NONE of the VTs were doing anything to draw shots.

Would the game benefit from each scum having a solitary daykill (for the entire game)? I think it's a lot simpler than the "each individual scum can only shoot one player per day". It also prevents a situation in say a 2 Goons, 0/1 Townie, 3/4 Mason endgame, where the two scum can chain-kill to victory.

This way, if a scum misses, they can only shoot a maximum of three masons (+1 for every other time they miss) throughout the game.

Much of great scumplay rests on the communication the members of the said team have. In any game really, giving scum absolutely 0 communication is asking them to climb a steep, icy hailing mountain.

This setup allows VTs to take charge though.

Obvtown VTs are a nightmare in this setup since there is no way to take care of them at all.

I think certain aspects of scumplay apply to mason play in this setup, such as if you have an "obvscum" mason buddy going down, the risks in attempting to save him are far exceeded by the benefits in just bussing.

That's just my observation from this game though.
Reck got tied to Crazy very early on, to the point where there was no way he could shrug the connection.

It wasn't possible to read Crazy as town this game unless you happened to be masons with him. = =
