Checking in. Will read by the end of lunch and tell you what's up. I may have some comments while I am reading.

Well, that was a fairly quick read. Again I get to replace in for someone who doesn't put too much thought or effort into their post. As DJPPON states, there isn't a whole lot of solid content yet, but we should have a decent starting point.

1. It sucks that kondi and norman replaced out. I think I could have gotten a decent read on them based on past experiences. Norman was playing in line with his town play. I would have needed more time on Kondi. I currently give the norman slot a town read. Kondi does recognize Norman's VI play and I give him some town credit here for that too.

2. I also have experience with BBMolla & GNR. GNR is a tougher read, so need more time on him. BB's play so far this game strikes me as in stark contrast with their scum play. Post #53 strikes me as very protown and puts BB as my highest town read at this point. Mafia or SK would be dumb to link where a gamebreaking strategy was (even though it doesn't apply exactly how it was used) and discuss why we should delay a massclaim. The massclaim talk is the most telling talk in the game so far.

3. Massclaim talk. I don't like how some players are pushing for a mass claim without a clear plan of action in place. There are going to be exploitable loopholes if not all avenues are thought out first. Whisper apparently has a history with the strategy, so they get a pass from me at this time. Kdowns seems to be the biggest proponent for pushing the claim without really explaining any logical gameplan behind it. Quil takes the idea from kdowns' post #197 and runs with it despite even kdowns saying it probably isn't a good idea. I see immediate flaws in that mafia/sk can just kill any of the unprotected players.

I think maybe kdowns is town because mafia/sk would not want to stick out by pushing for MC. Quil though seems like they are jumping on the chance to promote someone else's bad idea.

Bionic, what experiences have you had with Norman? Evidently you still thought Quil's ideas were scummy, so why the unvote?

Also, the criticism of his strategy is pretty bad. There are /always/ unprotected players, regardless of massclaim or not.

1. Can't discuss at this time. The town read of Norman outweighs the scum read of Quil. My read on Quil's play wasn't an OMG found OBVSCUM moment by any means, but was worthy of exploration and a P9 vote.

2. Yes there are always unprotected players, but the mafia don't always know who they are. I prefer for the strong town players to not die just because someone else is vig.

We have a major issue. As long as people are discussing game theory, scumhunting will be very difficult. Theory is easy to discuss from either alignment, so you only end up flushing out those weak at theory. We all need to get back to questioning people to determine their motives and alignment.

Also, your solution to counter claims is to "lynch among the clears", effectively making the only real pro to this strategy (ie. two confirmed vigs) irrelevant.

Fitz&Bionic: how scummy do you find lurking?

Lurking in and of itself is not 'scummy' because unfortunately town do it. It is a good place for scum to hide though when there are town players lurking. Consistently posting non-content when you do actually post I do consider scummy.

unless there is a back-up plan to account for a 3rd vig claim. We need a plan that avoids chaos if mafia/sk don't just willingly go along with whatever is layed out and claim doc.

Whisper, you have each 2 docs on each vig.

What happens when the docblock hits a doc on a vig, and SK + Maf both hit that vig? 1 doc blocks 1 gunshot, there'll be 2 shots and the vig is down.

She acknowledges that in her second bullet point. It is statistically improbable that everything would line up perfectly for that. It would take SK assuming mafia would try to take out vig and guessing which one they would target.

I am starting to care less and less about whether or not we mass claim since we obviously are not going to have any useful discussion while the concept is still floating around. Count me as a

towards whichever gets a majority at this point. Since I have replaced in, about 10% of the posts have been scum hunting related and this strategy discussion is making it near impossible to decipher who is town and who is mafia going along for the ride.

Also, I am shooting off the list of docs that will not be on the vigs right? How will that list be determined when there has been very little opportunity for scumhunting? I would suggest players with lower activity levels since we will have less to judge them on later.

Looking forward to the 3rd Vig claim plan but I would lean towards Bionicchop2 as the fake one. He was awfully quick to claim it when he could have waited a bit longer. I think for the cred of being first to do so.

I was online waiting to claim before I went to Thanksgiving festivities. If I was so anxious to claim and be first for cred, why would I have objected to massclaiming for the majority of the day?
