Am I the only one who caught this porn-induced Freudian slip?Do not put 'words' in my mouth by implying that I intend to create bangwagons on people however.
Anyway, while I appreciate you guys trying to get this conversation going, there's basically a lot of talk about game mechanics heading really deep into WIFOM territory. If we could lynch scum on the power of logic alone we would hold a far better win ratio. Unfortunately, we pretty much always need a combination of logic/instinct.
I really like the quality of posting - obviously this is a game with SMRT-people.
Unvote. We're not out of random yet, but discussion has moved along nicely. Let's not get carried away though, shall we?Why so serious?-

This is the way we play it over here as well (not sure if you were referring to previous experiences on different sites). I never consider the initial baiting phase a scumtell - in fact, I consider it legitimate scumhunting and am wary of whoever criticizes it.Mills wrote:As I have said, I voted 'to get information' because it is how I am accustomed to playing. It was not serious in the sense that the vote was placed because I thought he was scum.
I only got a few posts in so far, but I'm not a lurker - you guys are just posting at a high rate.
Few comments:
I don't. Mills' criticism of KradDrol is justified, but I used the same criticism in a previous game when I was scum. It's not a tell either way, I'm afraid.I personally feel a little safe with Mills around because of this post:
And I agree with you both. As I pointed out above, an early bandwagon just fires up the discussion. It's also the earliest point for scum to try and scapegoat someone - either by jumping on the bandwagon or firing at those already on it.I agree here with vollkan. The purpose of a early wagon is to get discussion going, as it seems to have done. Though Ythill seems to think this is scummy, i feel it is standard after reading many games.
For what's it worth, I don't consider Hypathia's posts scummy at this point. Especially #72 seems candid.
Owned.I don't think I'll inquire as to why you associate extreme frequency with masturbation.
Also, lurkers come out and play? WLOL and such. Why so serious?-

Sure. Newbie 496 is the game in question. Post #89. And damn you for making me look that up.Mills wrote:Could you please link to the previous game you were in as scum where you made a post such as this? Why so serious?-

Specifically referring to the 'looking for a nice speedlynch, or a bandwagon to jump on?' bit. I was trying to plant some seeds of doubt in a Townie in that game, and I was succesful - he got lynched. Mind you, I lost that game anyway.
Not saying that Mills is scum because of that - like I said, it's a non-tell. I'm just getting the impression that some people might get carried away a bit and I'm emphasizing to keep your eye on everyone just now. Last time I was a Townie and we disregarded someone because he seemed so innocent, heturned out to be Scum. Open 45 if you want a bit more meta. Why so serious?-

I don't know if you're referring to me, but I'd rather not quote posts from other games. People will get so confused. I normally quote when I reply though.Dean Harper wrote:hey, it would be really helpful if you guys could quote things by opening a separate window where you quote and write about it and then cut and paste into your post window. That would just make it easier to see who you are quoting, and you wont have to type it in.Why so serious?-

Nice LoS, Death's Door. Just wanted to adress a few things.
I think it's refreshing, to be honest. Too often enough, players are scared to jumpstart the game in fear of being bandwagoned. New players often find themselves crumbling under their own logic and being attacked on all sides (by both Town and Scum). While I still think the hunting is a non-tell, I'm not actually getting any strong scummy vibes from him yet.Death's Door wrote:vollkan: I don't like how vollkan has been playing. I may be alone in this, but he seems to be way too aggressive in his posting. When he sees something scummy he jumps on it with a vengeance. This may or may not be scummy, but I'm not liking it right now.
I agree: Ythill has been sloppy.Ythill: He was the biggest opponent to Mills in the argument over the vote on me. He accused Mills of vote hopping even though he only made 2 votes total, and says Mills jumped off the wagon once a little suspicion was given to it.
I have a question for you, DD: When you say people should 'distuingish themselves from the pack more', what are you getting it? Do you simply want them to speak up so you can get a more accurate read?
Important notice to everyone: I'll be taking a trip from Europe to Florida tomorrow: the entire trip will last more than 24 hours so during that period I'm not here. I will be taking my laptop with me and will have internet access at most of my hotels. I'll post when I have access again. Why so serious?-

I did. Hi everyone, playing from sunny Tampa, Florida. Wow that's a lot of shittossing. I'm severely jetlagged, so will post a reply to that stuff. All I can say now is: bulldog much? I pointed out something was a null-tell and referred to previous game, and you spin it to 'he was caught lying'. Weird stuff. Ok, will be posting later!vollkan wrote:Mookeh had stepped in to refer to the other game and say that it was a null-tell.Why so serious?-

Well, I can - so maybe I'm interpreting it differently or you haven't been paying attention. His post was criticizing him for standing on the sidelines and basically waiting for a lynch. My post was criticizing that player for standing on the sidelines and maybe waiting for a bandwagon to jump on. Exact same thing.Mills wrote:Maybe I'm imagining things but it seemed like he made the original point about my post in this game (which I agree with) but when I asked for evidence of the previous game in which he said he did a similar thing, he links to a post where I can't really see the connection between his post in that game and my post in this game.
Now, the fact that you didn't read it properly shows you're either sloppy or you're trying to strawman me. At this point I was going for sloppy, but:
That's an obvious strawman you're being caught on. I never said I had empirical evidence. All I said I was playing in a previous game and used that argument as well. You proceeded to ask for a link. That's a spin, no matter how you look at it.Mookeh made a post saying that something I did wasn't necessarily pro-town (which is a sentiment I agree with) and also suggested that he had empirical evidence.
I did not make a mistake, and I did not lie. I'll post a simple version of what just took place:
Mookeh:Yeah it's basically a non-tell, used it in another game where I was scum.
Mills:Link?
Mookeh:Here you go.
Mills:I don't see the connection! You're LYING! You said you had empirical evidence!
Mookeh:Wtf?
Get my point?Why so serious?-

Holy wall of text, Batman!
I'd put up a scumdar but unfortunately my internet time here is limited, so tracing everyone's arguments and such is out of the question (four more days until I'm back). I realise I've not given much to the game so far, but this will change then.
Small point on the only other player I know from a previous game: Jennar is playing exceedingly scummy here. Unfortunately, he was also playing scummily in Open 45 - and he turned out to be FBI. He was forced to claim D1 because of this. So he's a wild card. Yet there's something about him that seems off to me in this game: can't place my finger on what it is yet. Will post more on this later on.Why so serious?-

I got back to the thread right after it closed... Did Mills just sabotage the game? Also, there's an SK/Vigilante in our midst. Nice.
Will finally post more later today.

I suppose he means that a Godfather claim (aside from being a scumclaim and therefore being lynchworthy anyway) also means that it's impossible to confirm, as Godfather doesn't show up on a police investigation.Ythill wrote:Could you explain what you mean here? What "meta reasons" and why do they demand the lynch?
Yes, I'm here - I had to write a 6000-word essay to be handed in tomorrow, and frankly I'm too tired to write a long post right now. Criticize me all you want, I'm gonna post when I feel a little bit better. Why so serious?
