Anyway, while I appreciate you guys trying to get this conversation going, there's basically a lot of talk about game mechanics heading really deep into WIFOM territory. If we could lynch scum on the power of logic alone we would hold a far better win ratio. Unfortunately, we pretty much always need a combination of logic/instinct.

I really like the quality of posting - obviously this is a game with SMRT-people.

As I have said, I voted 'to get information' because it is how I am accustomed to playing. It was not serious in the sense that the vote was placed because I thought he was scum.

This is the way we play it over here as well (not sure if you were referring to previous experiences on different sites). I never consider the initial baiting phase a scumtell - in fact, I consider it legitimate scumhunting and am wary of whoever criticizes it.

I only got a few posts in so far, but I'm not a lurker - you guys are just posting at a high rate.

I don't. Mills' criticism of KradDrol is justified, but I used the same criticism in a previous game when I was scum. It's not a tell either way, I'm afraid.

I agree here with vollkan. The purpose of a early wagon is to get discussion going, as it seems to have done. Though Ythill seems to think this is scummy, i feel it is standard after reading many games.

And I agree with you both. As I pointed out above, an early bandwagon just fires up the discussion. It's also the earliest point for scum to try and scapegoat someone - either by jumping on the bandwagon or firing at those already on it.

For what's it worth, I don't consider Hypathia's posts scummy at this point. Especially #72 seems candid.

I don't think I'll inquire as to why you associate extreme frequency with masturbation.

Specifically referring to the 'looking for a nice speedlynch, or a bandwagon to jump on?' bit. I was trying to plant some seeds of doubt in a Townie in that game, and I was succesful - he got lynched. Mind you, I lost that game anyway.

Not saying that Mills is scum because of that - like I said, it's a non-tell. I'm just getting the impression that some people might get carried away a bit and I'm emphasizing to keep your eye on everyone just now. Last time I was a Townie and we disregarded someone because he seemed so innocent,

Nice LoS, Death's Door. Just wanted to adress a few things.

vollkan: I don't like how vollkan has been playing. I may be alone in this, but he seems to be way too aggressive in his posting. When he sees something scummy he jumps on it with a vengeance. This may or may not be scummy, but I'm not liking it right now.

I think it's refreshing, to be honest. Too often enough, players are scared to jumpstart the game in fear of being bandwagoned. New players often find themselves crumbling under their own logic and being attacked on all sides (by both Town and Scum). While I still think the hunting is a non-tell, I'm not actually getting any strong scummy vibes from him yet.

Ythill: He was the biggest opponent to Mills in the argument over the vote on me. He accused Mills of vote hopping even though he only made 2 votes total, and says Mills jumped off the wagon once a little suspicion was given to it.

I agree: Ythill has been sloppy.

I have a question for you, DD: When you say people should 'distuingish themselves from the pack more', what are you getting it? Do you simply want them to speak up so you can get a more accurate read?

Well, I can - so maybe I'm interpreting it differently or you haven't been paying attention. His post was criticizing him for standing on the sidelines and basically waiting for a lynch. My post was criticizing that player for standing on the sidelines and maybe waiting for a bandwagon to jump on. Exact same thing.

I'd put up a scumdar but unfortunately my internet time here is limited, so tracing everyone's arguments and such is out of the question (four more days until I'm back). I realise I've not given much to the game so far, but this will change then.

Small point on the only other player I know from a previous game: Jennar is playing exceedingly scummy here. Unfortunately, he was also playing scummily in Open 45 - and he turned out to be FBI. He was forced to claim D1 because of this. So he's a wild card. Yet there's something about him that seems off to me in this game: can't place my finger on what it is yet. Will post more on this later on.

Could you explain what you mean here? What "meta reasons" and why do they demand the lynch?

I suppose he means that a Godfather claim (aside from being a scumclaim and therefore being lynchworthy anyway) also means that it's impossible to confirm, as Godfather doesn't show up on a police investigation.

Yes, I'm here - I had to write a 6000-word essay to be handed in tomorrow, and frankly I'm too tired to write a long post right now. Criticize me all you want, I'm gonna post when I feel a little bit better.
