Greetings, contestants, and welcome to the grand debut! Our show today functions in ways similar to, but also distinct from a normal game of mafia. Please read all of the following rules carefully.

The Main Events

This game has no daytime or nighttime! Instead, we will play through

event phases

. There will be at least five, but no more than ten events played!

Events

are like mini-games and typically involve all living players making a big decision or many small ones! If the game doesn't involve all living players, the deadlines will be made as short as possible as to mimick a typical night-phase.

Stagehands

The stagehands (scum faction) have access to greater knowledge surrounding the events than the uninformed individual might have from reading the public thread. What this private knowledge may entail... that's up to you to figure out.

Addtionally, the stagehands have a two-shot factional ability to

sabotage

an event. This will typically bend the rules to their favour, and it may cause the game to contradict its previously stated rules.

An event being sabotaged may or may not be publicly announced!

Promises and Disclaimers

Our show today is bastard! However, there are no cults, mid-game alignment changes, or secret wincons. There's no direct moderator influence (including before the game), and I will never tell ridiculous lies!

However, some sabotages may cause moderator info to become inaccurate or not include the full details in some capacity. There are also elements of randomness and misdirection within the setup, but they are very uncommon and are also influenceable by the players despite being deceptive or random.

Serious Content Warning - Unintentional self-harm/suicide is a component of one game. It's not described in detail.

Harley I know you've got an ungodly amount of reading in front of you and I don't/won't begrudge you for skipping around, but "two dueling scum is unlikely" is some of the laziest analysis I've heard in a while

Maybe start 10/15 pages back from the duel participants getting chosen and read from there? Or start with the blue PT where Infinity was chosen as an execution nominee for this event and see if you get any reads from that?

Well, in general, when you have two wagons and one flips scum, the cw tends to be town. I’ve seen very few games with two competing scum wagons.

It's not even necessarily wrong, it's just a lazy assumption that you shouldn't build off of unless/until you have context or other reasons that make those wagons unlikely to be SvS.

What if it was Toog and 2 people in blue team? There was an early sentiment that the duel wasn’t really clearing for Toog, but they never gained traction. Maybe that’s why they didn’t feel pressured? And with Infinity getting nominated and how many people were sussing them, Toog could basically do whatever in the pink room with the knowledge that it was basically going to be a landslide. As for the duel, I just looked at the votes and Peta and Saber were the last two. Now I’m worried about a Peta/Harley/Toog team tbh
I started this as an attempt to devil’s advocate but this all sounds internally consistent

People tend to get tripped up when I ask for homework rather than write something as lucid as 4065.

I want to hear this same team theory but from the perspective of Event 1 to see of that consistency still remains.

SKITTER can you give me like a timeline/summary of who you were suspecting and how strongly through events 1-3? (also I might just call them days 1 and 2 later because that feels correct to me)

I still want this when you have time btw. I don't really understand your read progression on either of peta or infinity at the moment and going through some of your thoughts about them (and any other strong reads) from previous days would help me out a lot with that

basically day1 i was mostly suspicious of your slot (the galron iteration) - he wanted to flip gamma without having a read there and wasn't really trying to solve, and felt just generally lacking as compared to radiobuzz . i didn't like unwnd's entrance, felt like he was trying to make cakez flippable, and felt like his approach to solving to the game didn't make much sense from a town-him's pov. i didn't really see the posting in the blue pt that people are raving about but your iteration seems a little bit better from what i've seen here.

infinity i was kinda suspicious of early game for not really trying to read me. in prior games they would make it a priority to try to solve me and would read me off of how i was trying to read them but that whole interaction/dance wasn't really happening this game, which made me somewhat suspicious because i thougth town-them would almost always do that, while scum-them would be a little too gun-shy to do that
i started feeling better abt her ~mid-day2 iirc because they were just kinda making good observations at the right time, and seemed to be trying to solve, and trying to help other people solve
and ultimately i don't think they end up on dunn eod there, i don't think they cast that vote to put a partner in the duel there

the other gamma is fairly obviously town from how he went about his decision in the chair phase.

cakez i've liked for most of the game despite a whole bunch of people trying to flip him earlier. his thinking was admittedly ~shallow~ but i think it was genuine and more a product of being busy he was irl - i liked how open he was about his thought processes, about how annoyed he was about how fast the game was moving, and he was just very guileless overall

peta i didn't really have thoughts on for most of day1, the phase where dunn got nommed i really didn't like his cakez push because i felt like he ought to have been townreading cakez by that point, and i didn't like how he dropped it in favor of dunn at the time that he did. i may have gotten a little tunneled, i realized over the night.

ydra i don't think interacts responds to unwnd's push on her the way she did as scum. there's no reason there for her to really have such an aggressive emotional response as scum, but i think it makes sense if she felt wrongly pushed as town and was annoyed

saber's slot has just kinda been around and just making kinda polished observations without follow-through and without really having an underlying thought process. kinda reminds me of scum-lilith in that way tbh. harley's entrance was focusing on the wrong things and was kinda scummy in that i think it's easier for scum to focus on mechancis in a game like this than figure out what their reads ought to be

I think Ydrasse as mafia will start the game off strong but over time lose drive, and then you realize their posting is just fluffy but not filled with very hard analysis

Very simple, you flip me first because I will flip town and then my reads will get taken seriously. It seems that few people are willing to listen to me while I’m alive, so my reads will get the respect they didn’t once I’m dead and I’m good with that.

I've felt increasingly good about how Taly has interacted with the game. He used the space in a universally beneficial way and has done a bit of digging. I guess less follow-up than I'd like on things like the links but this is splitting hairs.

Pooky I townread a lot of how he's approached the game mechanically. I do wonder if he's just letting me throw but I'll figure it out with flips on the table.

Prism was Gypyx, now Idk. Gypyx is really scummy but Prism isn’t.

This completely ignores the fact that if Gamma were to vote himself into the chair, and it was something good, Gamma would look hella susp for it, aka the rest of the game when maybe we get a chance to kill him.

So it's not as simple as Dunnstral is making it.

On Skitter - Her latching onto 'No more than 1 scum in Pink' and 'something fucky happened in the Blue PT' without seeing the blue PT herself I dislike a LOT. It seemed like really shallow logic that she wouldn't give up on, and focusing on that instead of her actual reasons to find peta scummy outside of that just seemed like filler posting to me.

this especially seems a case of engagement with the material/mechanics of that game vs. here although lord that is a big difference, looking at it. but i feel like the range of play and tone here is not that dissimilar to e.g. isekai upick or micro 1017, for towngames as reference. it doesn't feel like mini normal 2197.

i feel like fighting against the tide here might be a losing endeavor though and if i want to do things democratically i have to give up something here, and a flip there is at least useful for that dread term, "resolving the wagons" that lets us know what went on day 2

i'm not significantly convinced that either toog or gypyx are scum though and want to fight to save one though. i think revisiting prism and gypyx's iso needs to be next on my agenda

i'm realizing this event actually sucks, i'd significantly prefer to just flip one player and proceed from there, i am not a person who works via PoE at all

Most vocal stagehand or suspicions from Pooky I can see are on Gamma, Dunnstral, and petapan. He also supported a S-S theory for the two leading wagons.

The shot on Galron being sabotaged does suggest Galron may be a stagehand also. Stagehands only own 2 of those, so following occam's razor killing the player who was saved due to it does seem like a good idea.

As for the second player in the duel, possibly Dunnstral largely due to Pooky's theory that he brought with him to the grave.

2452 isn't actually about dunn, it's about unwnd's half-assed read of Saber/Dunn as unaligned (which i don't agree with) but Saber goes after him for being "more interested in appearing contestanty and like he's solving rather than actually convincing players of these reads he's posting" which is just super weak imo, as if having underexplained reads is in and of itself a scumtell. attacks him for "progression on dunnstral read" in 2850, but i think the "without any new content" is a cheap gotcha, people can think things over and re-evaluate without seeing posts. i dunno something about these incidental attacks over unwnd's read on dunn without saber really ever discussing dunn feels bothersome?

Dunnstral/Toogeloo isn't the worst result in the world. I think Toogeloo is >random-contestant but at the end of the day they're doing absolutely nothing for the contestants and it's not like what they're doing is hard to fake by any means. It's hard to justify them making it to endgame basically.

Dunnstral has just been somewhat lacking and may have sliped about secret insider stagehand info in the first phase, and may also be the reason Pooky died.

I finished rereeading through some stuff to try to read Ydrasse and Gypyx better and it was mostly not helpful. I do think I should downgrade Gyoyx/Prism from strong town to regular town read b/c most of my read came from the Prism slot and just Gypyx *efforting* but he still comes across as town to me

Ydrasse wasn't around much for pages like 50-70, kinda helped start the Galron wagon and then wasn't around for a while but also those pages were like a single real-life day so I don't think it's anything to really hold against her. Ydrasse also wasn't around a ton in blue PT which is slightly eh but most of her content there was pushing Toog which I can't really fault either.

My perfect left behind-team atm is prob skitter/Saber/Ydrasse/whoever Ydrasse wants to take down with her but I'm much more concerned with just getting skitter/saber dead atm

If Taly gets within hammer range of sending across I'll do it even though I want him to go later, but also I want to be slamming through the first 4 people once we've got the 1st person crossing.

When he sr her, she didn’t get upset about it and he keeps saying he wants to leave her behind but only talks about wanting me dead. That doesn’t sound like town making a good faith sorting of me. Those kind of posts generally come from scum trying to push a miselim. I just don’t buy it.

this especially seems a case of engagement with the material/mechanics of that game vs. here although lord that is a big difference, looking at it. but i feel like the range of play and tone here is not that dissimilar to e.g. isekai upick or micro 1017, for towngames as reference. it doesn't feel like mini normal 2197.

i feel like fighting against the tide here might be a losing endeavor though and if i want to do things democratically i have to give up something here, and a flip there is at least useful for that dread term, "resolving the wagons" that lets us know what went on day 2

i'm not significantly convinced that either toog or gypyx are scum though and want to fight to save one though. i think revisiting prism and gypyx's iso needs to be next on my agenda

It was this post that really pissed me off because, it read to me like you were in essence trying to haggle with Gamma like I was some cantaloupe in a state fair or an item to be auctioned off on eBay. In a nutshell, when people talk about me in front of me when it makes far more sense to be talking TO me, it seriously weirds me out and that is specifically what I meant about never have been treated like this before in any game ever.

I’ve never ever encountered anything like this in any game I’ve ever played. Maybe it’s just a really obvious personality clash between me and Peta? Maybe it’s the setup but I’ve also played coalition and I didn’t experience this.

I’ve been waiting to post this for awhile. I apologize for being rude, toxic and insulting. I was not lying about having mental health issues being triggered. However, I would never use/abuse that in like a gazillion trillion years to gain a game advantage especially as scum. Something about being talked about/not being directly interacted with, did triggerd for me past real life trauma which is beyond the scope of this game.

I also didn’t lie or fake my feelings. I think had I been pushed directly instead of indirectly I probably wouldn’t have replaced out but I didn’t know how to deal with. What I said about never have experienced that before in aby game ever was true.

I also didn’t fake slip, I honestly hadn’t read anything which is par for the course when I replace in to a game with over 50+ pages, so I would have been just as lost if I were town. I wish I had played in this game from the beginning and I would have even liked it more to have been town which had I perhaps more critically read Saber’s ISO, I might have spared myself all of this. I just thought this game was so awesome, I just wanted to be a part of it and I really hope Tweetie designs a similar setup where I get to play from the beginning - hopefully as town.

I’m okay if pushed, so long as it done by pushing me directly. It legit freaked me to be talked about rather than being interacted with directly and that’s really all I wanted and I would have handled everything so much better.

That said, I did realize that I did hurt certain people, namely Peta and I am truly sorry for that. I think when you didn’t believe me that I was neither lying or abusing the mental health thing, I just lost it and it was at thatbpoint, I knew I had no choice but to replace out.

I also apologize for my part in causing anyone to be uncomfortable. I had made a few posts in the scum PT, which I don’t agree with anymore (wrt Peta) but won’t be redacting them because they were an honest representation of how I was feeling att.


I was floored that not only Peta but especially Taly and Ydrasse would seriously think I was such a shitty scumplayer that I would bus my entire team without any good reason to do so. I’m still reeling that anyone thought that.

Anyway, I have definitely improved in how I handle being directly pushed but being indirectly pushed is literally something I’ve never had to deal with in any game ever.

I obviously wish I could have stayed in the game since replace outs don’t get credit for scum wins. That said, no game is worth me having a mental breakdown over.

I play most of my games without that being an issue. I really can’t explain better than I have why this is different. No, I usually don’t get indirectly pushed to the exclusion of being directly pushed and I have literally never had to deal with that before. If you don’t believe me, that’s on you.

What I probably should take more care in is putting more effort into replacing into a doomed slot because if a lot of players were sr my predecessor, it’s probably a red flag which I wish I hadn’t ignored. Defending myself is one thing but I had no idea how to defend anything Saber did and I didn’t want to extend any effort into that.

Well, I should probably try to see things more from other people’s pov like Peta wouldn’t have any way of knowing that I didn’t do what he had accused me of and had I taken that into account, I probably wouldn’t have gotten so upset, I guess.

I did plead with people to interact with me more directly but maybe that’s at least partially on me for being so passive about that. I could have have pressed people directly when they made a post about me and confront them and challenge them to do it directly but instead, I very rarely did that and whined about it essentially.

So, to explain my play here. Ydra was bleeding obvtown here and she would have immediately known something was up if I hadn’t noticed that, since she knows that when she’s this obvtown, I will very likely read her correctly.

Taly should have been obvtown from his Dunn vote, so I don’t understand how that wasn’t blatantly obvious.

Peta was being very obviously solvey but with gooey, there were interactions between him and Skitter, which had I actually town here, I would have seen as alligned based on the way she reacted to his scumread on her.

I play scum very similar to how I play town which is both simultaneously a strength and a weakness for me, which is my reads tend to not be all that extremely different when it comes to slots I see as obvtowning.

So, I know I could never convincingly have pushed Yydra, Dweelee, Taly, Peta here like ever, which is why I never even tried. Now when it came to slots like gypyx, gooey, Ulyana, Cakez, that was different.

Any and all of them were pushable to me to varying degrees and Skitter greatly helped by setting up gooey slot throughout the game.

Alot of things I got scumread for we’re totally nia. I never ever fake slip and my entrance to the game would not have been extremely different had I actually been town here, because I’m a mid/late game replace in and while the meci aspect of this game wasn’t overly complex, there was still a great deal of it to have processed and believe it or not, having a scum team didn’t really help me all that much wrt to that.

Gamma was clearly trying to help me with this but he ironically actually made it more difficult by asking me to analyze things that I had very little understanding about. So I was genuinely frustrated with him doing that, eventhough I realize he was trying to help me. So struggling greatly with the mech, also hurt me. Had I held the Saber slot from the beginning, I probably would not have found the mech to be such a challenge.

As town, I would have also been struggling but I would have been able to take refuge in reads, which is obviously something you can’t do as scum, so you need to understand the mech to not look scummy but I obviously couldn’t do that.

Then of course there was the fact that Saber had done all of these apparently suspicious things that I didn’t want to touch with a ten foot pole.

So all of these things were against me. Replacing into a doomed scumslot is probably my worst nightmare playing mafia when there’s so much to process and very little time to have done that. I wish I had waited long enough to have beated A50 for the gypyx slot because I think this is probably hands down one of the best mafia setups I’ve ever seen. I wish every game on this site was up to these standards and I want to kidnap the graphics’ genius to help me with the next game I mod. Tweetie’s descriptions of events and flips were sheer poetry, every single thing, so next time I want to be in the game from the getgo and 100% make it up to everyone which I guarantee will happen.

I sincerely wish to apologize to anyone I offended. My behaviour was not acceptable. I have very severe neurological issues but that doesn’t mean, that very specific targeted constructive criticism won’t help me.

I am literally begging anyone I hurt during the course of this game, to please do that. I need/want to do better but I need your collective help here, to help me to make it right.

it's very valid to be upset by something someone says about you in a game, but sometimes those things are also unavoidable parts of the game. lmk if i'm getting this wrong, but it seemed like 5154 was what upset you from peta at first. while i can see how that would upset you, i think that's a reasonable thing to say in a game of mafia. i think in that case, you can certainly express that you're upset about it, and you can ask peta to try to avoid saying things like that, but it would be more of a favor from him and not really his responsibility. it can be hard to know where to draw that line, especially when you're upset. maybe taking a break from the game before you respond would help.

Yeah, that did trigger me but mostly because I had never been in a game before where I got talked about but not directly interacted with, so I just didn’t know how to engage with that.

I think my main problem is that I just straight up express my feelings without first thinking how they might possibly both be interpreted and ho they affect the recipient as well as other parties.

So like Titus said in HDP, I struggle sometimes with understanding why I’m being pushed and explode, when it would be a lot smarter, pleasant and definitely far more effective just to try to be a lot more diplomatic but I need to do a lot better because I don’t want to keep upsetting/alienating people who play games with me, so I a
hellbent and determined to get it right. One of my most positive qualities is I’m not a quitter especially when it involves anything to do with personal development. I can do a lot better and God help me, I will somehow find a way and I won’t stop until I make a reality.

But I’m requesting very specific feedback because my brain works differently than most, in that I don’t automatically process general statements. I don’t automatically break things down into smaller more concrete easier to understand elements like most people do without even thinking about it.

So for example, I had this job where I had to sort and move this huge stack of papers. Well I just looked at this massive pile and I blanked out and I couldn’t figure our what to do, so I just kicked it over in frustration, when the logical, simple action clearly would have been to lift small parts of the pile, which was doable but my brain for whatever reason just couldn’t process that at the time. It’s like everything for me initially starts off as some humongous mental block with a steep learning curve but once I figure out how to navigate this learning curve, I can sometimes even master it. It just takes me a lot longer than everybody else, initially.

I probably would have had a blast had I played from the beginning and maybe not have been scum. Despite my very sincere apologies, I am currently being punished for my behaviour in this game and it majorly sucks. :/

People on this site are insanely unforgiving and refuse to give anyone a second chance. I could 100% have proved myself but unfortunately people won’t let me do that.
