The optimal nightmare action is to hand out a Bulletproof Innocent Child Invention with the Normal Invention action, to do that we need at least 7 people in the nightmare. There's also likely to be a role that knows how many non-Town were in the nightmare (since there was one last game) so being accurate could result in a large amount of green checks. Most likely way to get that pure nightmare though is to put in as little people as possible so either a 7 person nightmare or an 8 person nightmare + a drew lim to bring it to a 7 person nightmare is the optimal way to go around nightmare votes rn

Just a question (still mid ISO): what is a lawyer? I couldn't find any 3rd party or town role called a lawyer, only scum, but they wouldn't have any reason to signal.

there are many different variations/naming of the role but what I have in mind is closer to savior you linked. by lawyer I mean someone who wins if their client wins. (not neccessirly loosing if the target gets voted out). they don't know their client role but they don't care about town win. naturally they will do whatever they can to signal to their target they are with them, and will use their boost skills if they have any to help them.

Not only is Cop an illegal Normal Invention but making the Cop Loyal is strictly worse than unmodified Cop. Loyal Rolecop is still likely better than the 1-shot Cop Invention (from the Cop action) if we can't trust the person being given the Cop invention since it forces them to either check their buddy or figure out a Townies exact role through other means.

(Though arguably Loyal Neighborizer is probably the best backup invention since it also bypasses the problem of scum figuring out exact roles through other means)

It was a very strong gut reaction to being told me putting in effort and trying to solve a game is "wolfily pointless," combined with a relatively lackluster slot overall. Also worth noting that while sheep did drop it pretty quick, Drew ran with it a bit longer.

^^ Aside from Abnegation, the townreads were almost the same. Another thing was the persistence of his Python scumread. Python was hard pushing Rauth (more on this later). Snivy also had Rauth as his main push as of 754, but he also had Python as a holdover scumread from early game.... the justification for it in 933 (something about Python's Wheme push) feels pretty meh as well.

It feels a lot like what I tend to do as scum, where my reads are easier to track because I make sure to leave a paper trail so to speak.

He has Python, a near consensus townread, as a scumread basically throughout the game, but he doesn't seem to care that so many other people townread them. Is there a mechanical way to remove/disable inventions as they are handed out?

A player who was vanillaized would never be told they got an Invention, and would subsequently lose the Invention due to Vanillaization falling under “Misc” in terms of NAR.

I cannot answer if any mechanics exist that could prevent someone from receiving an Invention.

I don't think Cult would do it, because that generates a lot of unnecessary attention, and Cult doesn't NEED anyone specific in the Nightmare, they can just recruit someone out of it.

It's genius when you think about it though, Cult wants Mafia lims too because it distracts town with non-Cult lims. If they saw the Ranger Drew crumbs then they'd want to point it out (to get a scum lim) without ever pointing it out (because then they get shot for being townie due to getting a scum lim) and a good way of doing that is putting Drew into the nightmare and then letting someone else find Rangers crumbs when people start looking for Drew crumbs
