Yes they do know everyone's name and there is even a fake one mixed in. What they don't know is who is who. The power would be able to connect a player with a name. Lets say I am deemed a huge threat to scum. They don't know my name so they need the power to figure it out in order to kill me. They could target a name that might be mine but chances are they could kill someone else whom they might have wanted to keep alive.

Also, with your logic we shouldn't lynch anyone who has the power because they could be town and scum could be next in line. That is silly. I am not trying to lynch Marquis just because he is first. I am lynching Marquis because I think he is scum but they first thing does play a part in the reason I think he is scum.

Not to mention I haven't done anything that could be skewed as scum motivated. I think Marquis is scum for pushing me from the get go. That isn't something town Marquis would do, they would want to sort me out later in the game because tbh I fall apart as scum most of the time late game. Early game is easy as I can just make noise while people lynch the lurkers. I am trying to break the game using the mechanic of the day-cop thing. Scum obviously need to know the role name of someone they want to kill. Like there is no scum motivation to tell everyone that and apparently it wasn't obvious to everyone else. People pushed me for knowing something that should have been common knowledge just based on the rules.

I wouldn't say I claim I win scum games off of this. I do rely on those people to town read me to get anywhere in the game. Antihero for some reason can read me well so as scum I would want him to be fooled by me. notscience normally townreads me at the beginning of games and doesn't stop regardless of my alignment and his testimony gets me farther in games. Marquis has the title of knowing me best because of our hydra. I don't know if they have ever been in a game with me that we weren't both scum in. The only game I remember with Marquis is Dark Ages and I was town there and they scum read me, so did notscience. I would need Marquis to town read me as scum to get anywhere in the game because he should have solid reads on me.

Long story short:
I deem Marquis, notscience and Antihero town reading me gets me further into games.

Hell when Marquis and I were scum together I wanted to neighborize Antihero so he would town read us and help us to victory but at the same time I knew he could read me well so I was paranoid he would find me out.

So those three town reading me is a huge step towards winning as scum but I never said they have all town read me when I was scum.

I will confirm the above. I also have no power what so ever I am just a Town Neighbor. Tammy claimed the same thing in the neighborhood which made me town read them because they had the same role as me. Last night I asked Equinox if they were a PR, but I asked too late. I felt like after Tammy's claim if Equinox was a Town Neighbor as well they would have thought Tammy was town. The first person to mention a role is at a huge disadvantage as everyone else could have some sort of power and as scum it would look suspicious. If Equinox had a power then her questioning the claim would make some sort of sense but if Equinox didn't have a power than I should have been the main suspect for scum and focused on rather than Equinox always saying something about either of us being scum. I only called out Equinox because Tammy is and always will be confirmed town in my eyes because of the claim.

I am right behind you in line for succession therefore my name was told to everyone in the opening post. The mod wouldn't lie about my name ergo you chose 1 of the worst two targets.

Why your targets semi-still matter: Someone could have lied about their name. We know that there is a name on that list that isn't actually in the game therefore if the scum somehow new that name, like the tried to kill it last night, they could use it as a fake claim to avoid any such actions that could be used on them. You could find out if someone lied by targetting them.
