You have no idea whether I'm on your side or not!
PolarBoy, how do the game mechanics work? Do you declare a deadline when both he and I privately PM you, choosing to fire or not fire? Or does someone just post fir or not fire in the thread and then the other person has to respond.
I'd also like a little more info on the scoring. If he's on my team, and he fires at me and I don't fire at him, I gain, right?

Okay, we'll start this out friendly. I'm a member of the tails mafia. If you too are tails, say so and I won't shoot you. If you don't say anything, I'm going to assume you are heads mafia and I will shoot you.

I don't know. Should we wait for PB? We could just send him our choices? Or do we do it in-thread? It seems like it should be private...your decision could very well affect mine.

Perhaps I'm missing something, but I don't entirely see the advantage of sending in your decision at an undisclosed time. The disadvantage is that games could draw on. Rite, I've sent mine in. You?

Probably not as fun to watch, but I had fun playing it. I'm not sure how many games of this it would take before I got bored, though. The first game was good. Maybe one more? I never got a role for the second game.

There's an interesting meta-psychology to the game. It feels a lot worse to shoot someone when they don't shoot you than to not shoot someone on the opposite team if they
do
shoot you. Because of this, I think a lot more games than not will end up with both players shooting.

Certainly, and I wasn't arguing to the contrary. I was just saying that the psychology of getting shot versus that of shooting someone will more often lead to shooting than not, regardless of the rightness of the play.

Hm, reading back on my post that you just quoted, it turns out I meant almost the exact opposite of what I actually said:
It feels a lot worse to not shoot someone on the opposite team if they do shoot you than it does to shoot someone when they don't shoot you.
The nont-sensical psychology is that if you shoot someone who doesn't shoot you, it's like "Oh well. Too bad I just killed that guy. At least I'm still alive," as opposed to "Hm. Not only am I dead, but I didn't kill the guy while I was at it." The latter sure feels like it sucks a lot more, even though they are equal in the context of the game.

Kelvin, I'm heads mafia, and I'd bet that you are too, so chances are that I'm not going to shoot you. Any feedback you could give would be much appreciated.

The chances are almost certainly not 1 in 2 that I'm not going to shoot you. The psychological stimga of getting shot vs. shooting, the possibility that one of us has correctly read the other, the fact that I've always secretly hated you...any of these could enormously sway the odds one way or the other.
Oh, did I say heads? I meant tails. My proverbial "bad."
