As you walk down the street heading back home, you're pretty pleased with yourself. The hit went well, the townies suspect nothing, the Godfather will be pleased. You hear a footstep behind you. You quickly turn around, pointing your gun at the source of the sound. By his bearing, and the gun pointed at your own head, you know he's a mobster, but with whom? He might be a member of your own family, but you can't be sure in the dark. Do you fire?
Players recieve a PM informing them which mafia family they belong to. They may be from the same family, or from different families. The goal of the game is to correctly identify if the other player is friend or foe, while at the same time concealing your own identity from him.
It's good to fire at enemies. It's good to put the hammer down for friends. Conversely, it's bad to fire at friends, and bad to put the hammer down for enemies. If you do something good, and your opponent does something bad, you win, and your opponent loses. If you and your opponent both make the right decision, or both make the wrong decision, you tie.
Play proceeds by players discussing whether to fire or hold, and the game ends when both players have sent their decision to the mod. Once a decision is sent it cannot be retracted.
