Look - obviously it wasn't my intent to out Wake. It's not like I could just *assume* there was a tracker in this game. That was just bad luck.

As far as my gambit goes, the reason I didn't hard claim in my gambit is for the same reason I wouldn't have hard claimed as a tracker - a tracker doesn't tell you if someone is guilty or innocent, it just tells you where someone went. Ditto for the watcher. So if DBK was scum, and thought I had a result on him, I was hoping that not knowing if I was a watcher or a tracker would make him offer up more information. It was a good gambit that in the end a. could have kept Wake's identity protected in theory and b. actually helps to vet his role.

Finally, I think you are overly concerned about having an outed tracker

with a guilty result

. The reason for him to counter at this point is for precisely the reason you wanted him to stay hidden - protection. Assuming there's only 1 other scum, they are now playing a game of Russian Roulette. "Can I kill Wake before he tracks me?" This is a legit scum concern because scum doesn't know what we have in terms of protective roles. With Wake's decision to out himself, he'll draw a protective night action over a fake claimer [me] that scum might not have targeted KNOWING there's almost certainly a protective role out there. And what if that target ended up being Wake? It was a good counter on several levels.

Bottom line, assuming DBK flips scum we now have a conf Town. The fact that conf Town is an investigative role means we are only a few days from a win.

I'd love to read the dead QT. DBK and I planned this one out. Didn't realize he would get busted N1 but it still went semi according to plan. This was a meta experiment on uber-distancing/bussing. Now I can't be accused of buddying my scum partners. So I'll probably buddy my next scum buddy so hard they will get pregnant. Or VD. Either way.

I've never seen a universal backup for scum before

Me neither so you really aren't to blame. AP said you should have figured out there weren't so many Town PR's because of setup spec but I think it's precisely BECAUSE of setup spec that I won the game. While everything here is considered NORMAL, the scum universal backup just isn't used - and that totally worked to my advantage.
