Not everyone. I find the game to be overhyped, bordering on being outright bad. Just lost the energy to get outraged about it a long time ago.
Yea I could live without the entire FF series. Not even in my top 100.
I changed my vote to Earthbound...got temporarily confused and forgot that the second "Mother" game was actually the first "Earthbound"...originally tricked myself and thought this was Earthbound 2.

I wasn't necessarily referring to you in particular...wasn't even a specific comment about people in this tournament...just that most people I know who like FF get really offended if you ever suggest that it's not the greatest game franchise ever created.

I'm going to have to abstain from Match 43 for now, because I literally can't choose. These are by and far the best games in this entire set, and they have given me perfectly equal amounts of entertainment, as far as I can evaluate. I'm not sure it's actually possible to choose, especially since they were some of the best in their series; the Gamecube versions of both were obviously awful, and the Wii versions were great updates but can't beat the classics, I think. Kart 64 had enough advances over the previous versions that I'd say it was sufficiently better, too.
Also, time to anti-vote the trash game that was Melee. Too bad it will probably move on...SM 64 was kinda weak and only ok. Still more enjoyable than Melee, though.

No Pokemon games after Gen2 should have gotten that far. Gen2 was obviously better than Gen1, too. Also, I kinda want to see Roller Coaster Tycoon make a surprise run to the finals. =P
of Bastion. Children in Africa have heard of Tetris. AND it's medically beneficial!
I've only heard of Bastion because someone submitted a song from the soundtrack in Song Contest, and then I realized that Darren Korb is awesome. That really has nothing to do with the game itself, though, which I've never played.

Super Mario 64 actually kinda sucked, but all the better mario games had tougher matchups. I'm glad to see most of the Pokemon games lose, although I'd concede that the Gold/Silver series was probably better than RBY. A Link to the Past is definitely one of the best, if not THE best Zelda games, so no complaints here.
It wouldn't make sense to do runoffs between games of the same series, because each game is significantly different. That said, I do think that in the future we need to differentiate between game series that are literally different games with the same theme (ie Zelda, Mario, etc) and series that are just continuations/updates of each other (ie Madden, NBA Live, etc). I personally don't think it makes sense to count Madden 2003 and Madden 2004 (to name two random years) as "different games" for the purposes of this tournament. Basically, every sports series was gimped automatically, even though they are essentially the same game, just with different stats and feature updates. I'd maybe consider breaking up a longer-running franchise like Madden by console generation, since there were graphical and feature updates that separated the games significantly as they transcended each platform.

How the fuck did one of the worst Mario games beat one of the (if not THE) best Mario Kart games? WTF...
Pokemon will always have a special place in my heart, but Portal is just a better game straight up. Both games were revolutionary, but Portal was better. That said, this is basically the championship match, since both of these games are better than the other two. (And no, I don't actually think Portal is the best game ever made, but shitty results have only left me this option.)
Abstaining from Match 62 because neither of those games deserved to win the previous round.

This. Are people just voting for SM64 simply because it's the last representative of the Mario franchise? Because it's nowhere near the *best* Mario game, much less the best overall game.
