Who asked? Why use it if you’re going to immediately announce it exists? In post 18, Ampharos wrote:full disclosure: I have a neighbor chat with tris.
Neither of our alignments are mentioned in the chat and (to my knowledge) there's no outside mechanical weirdness tied to it, just a vanilla neighbor chat.

Furthermore, accountability; if Tris says something compromising in the chat I can now just pop in and say "hey Tris is being weird in chat" instead of having to waste time claiming later. [that said, Tris seems like an obvious villager aorn, but whatever]

While I do have a strong presence in games, I found it odd for Tris to bring that up during my first string of posting, especially because I've been offsite for months. I don't know, it felt subtly manipulative in a harmless way, which is what scum actually do rather than what people think scum do, if that makes sense.
I wasn't going to say anything about it because it's so early in the game, but seeing an exact opposite read, even if it was for a different reason was weird and I want it on record that I found it weird.<Embrace The Void>

These things are easily verifiable. Though my concern for outing a neighborhood right away is that you either made yourselves a target for a NightKill or you'd create a lot of WIFOM as to why neither of you have been targetted for a Nightkill
Oh, what, I meant to say that in the neighborhood.
But yeah, I hard agree with this. I dominate in neighborhoods as scum, and it's just really easy because it's such an intimate relationship with a couple other people, if you can just get on the same page, you can carry a game that way.<Embrace The Void>

I don't see how the neighborhood being public changes anything there. why would mafia be more on guard in the neighborhood due to the neighborhood being known about. it's not like people can go look in the neighborhood even now. and a townsperson is able to reveal what was said in there regardless of whether or not they had previously talked about it.In post 185, Gamma Emerald wrote:

I had modded games for nearly 2 years straight, and a lot of times multiple larges at once
Like, I got 3 scummies for 2019, so I became okay not having to be obsessive over Mafia. My film/writing career's is starting to move forward more too, but y'all know how important the game of Mafia is to me. You knew I'd be back.
I don't want to get overzealous, but I also finally have a nice computer now, so modding large themes on a computer instead of my phone, come on now. My next games hopefully will run nicely. I plan to spice the BooneyToonz games up in a cool way soon.<Embrace The Void>

@tris, re: the hood, yes town can out the information regardless of whether it’s previously outed but instantly saying “hey I’m watching you bub” will probably make them interact in a more guarded way. It could be used as a psych out tbh, but given Ampharos seems to be a newb I don’t expect they were thinking on that level. Plus there’s also the fact Ampharos just seems super self-conscious about the whole situation. It’s not a suspicion that really holds a lot of weight but I think I can VOTE: Ampharos and feel okay with calling that a serious vote.
As for Kaname Date yeah it’s not much but I just think scum would be less likely to express the kind of thought shown in that post.<Embrace The Void>
