I don't understand why you think you would suffer in a 4 way.

for example, play it out.

like let's say A50 is scum, skitter is town, we're in 4 way:

Datisi(Town)
Koba(Town)
T3(Town)
Pooky(Scum)

Koba proposes to T3,

T3 says nah.

T3 proposes to Pooky

Pooky Accepts?

How would you suffer?
