It's a gut read. It's fine if you disagree. It will likely end up meaningless in the long term. But why should making a gut read you disagree with make me mafia?

Lean town on Cape. Also on Umlaut. Think Looker might be town for a silly reason. Think bugspray is scummy but that might just be my own pettiness speaking.

It's early game, what do you want a 500 word scumcase?
No - I'm just questioning your reasoning. Trying to figure out if you're town, and if so, make you realize your thinking is silly.

You're saying 15 was an actual read and not just page 1 shitposting?
There are degrees to it. It's flinging shit at the wall but I like to have momentum early.
In post 53, Jacket wrote:And for the record, I have no particular reason to try to inspire movement in this game as mafia
What movement do you think you've been inspiring that hasn't revolved around you?
Why does that matter? I generate conversation, I get reads. The fact that the conversation is
about me
would be counter-productive as mafia. As scum I could have easily just lurked and let the game stay slow. The activity as it is is rather uninspired for a blitz.

Prior to this you had 5 posts, all of which were incredibly underwhelming. I had you as highly likely to be scum, I was just holding off on saying it. The thing about trying to POE the game on day 1 is that I don't actually need to "sort" you, I just need to get the correct townreads. Same deal with bugspray. I felt they were being bizarrely overconfident in speaking for cape and jumping on me in a way that did't really make sense. If they're town being obnoxious, that's kind of whatever.
Looker come from a bit of experience in the game we were scum together. It's not a strong read still but felt like actually calling someone out for inactivity was proactive for him.

The petty part of me wants to say shiki comes off as incredibly threatened right now but I'm holding off on doing it. I think Vanderscamp is the best flip, by a lot.

I know you say it was a gut read, but it's hard to counter a gut read, like it can be a default read when you don't have anything to support your initial read. I don't know if that was the case here. So I guess what I'm asking is what caused your brain to call my posts the scummiest and then vote for me. I don't want to probe it a whole lot, but you wanted to kill me over it, so I think I deserve more than "gut read."
The problem with that is that I don't really care about motivations for opening posts. Anyone can claim a plausible "motivation" for opening fluff. I pick at vibes, at feelings. Claiming I wanted to "kill" you because of a page 1 vote is a little over the top.

based on what exactly? the problem with poeing the game like this is it doesn’t actually incentivize the thing you are claiming it does not does it give any leeway for you being wrong

Let's go with that then. What about my posts caused you to experience the vibe or feeling of voting me? What am I supposed to take from you that says okay this is why he did this?
I don't really like explaining this stuff because it's very slight and based of feelings. I just looked at the first post and said, these might be a little awkward, a little out of place. It's not more complicated than that.
The thing is, faking that sort of reasoning would be really easy too.

Feeling was that he'd have more of a reason for an arbitrary wagon vote as scum. E-1 vote on page 2 felt too bold. Uncharitable for sure but wasn't convinced it was malicious.

In post 148, Jacket wrote:Feeling was that he'd have more of a reason for an arbitrary wagon vote as scum.
what are you townreading him for, 17? i don't think scum would *need* to have an arbitrary reason to move their vote there, especially in the meme stage of the game. and like, umlaut is good enough at scum to think he can get away with a y-1 early i think
i'm not 100% on bugs, if that's what you're asking. but i have decent experience with them, and i do think my ability to read them is above rand, so. will let you know if i sense and changes.
I was working with what I had at the time. don't have a problem downgrading the read if other surpass him.

In post 193, Looker wrote:It's difficult to read through arguments and differentiate between who's potentially contradicting scum and who's just getting out-communicated. What did Vanderscamp do? Was it just the catch-up post?
It's day 1, everything is just kind of a gut feeling that everyone is stretching to put into words. I just looked at his stuff and it felt inauthentic.
Not impressed with their ISO, read on Shiki seems shallow and as Vanderscamp pointed out oddly rigid, and if I take 187 seriously I have to conclude they are not currently voting their top scumread. Particularly note their read on Vander: "I've only seen them protect Shiki and OMGUS me," followed by their read on Shiki: "I don't agree with everything the slot says, but I'm okay with believing for now that a slot wouldn't be so effusive if they didn't believe what they were saying." This former read looks like it's arguing for a Shiki-Vander team but the latter looks like they don't even believe that? This readlist does not show the sort of thought I expect from someone who actually means what they are saying.
Read some of their games and thought they were pretty frequently low hanging fruit. Kind of seems to have their own way of doing things that most people don't get. I had thought their vote on shiki showed some scumhunting intent. But looking back over them their treatment of her seems a little unfair.
I don't even really believe in my Jacket vote any more so much as I just don't really have any scumreads rn so have no reason to move it. Someone sell me on something.
In post 190, Jacket wrote:I think umlaut's read on Datisi is kind of bad.
What's bad about it?
I just think the reasoning isn't good. The way his read went could easily be trying to take a "nuanced" position as scum but ultimately not having a better place for his vote. Not necessarily scumreading him, just don't townread that.
I don't actually know what it means to me though. Could be scum making a bad townread. But I still kinda think you're town.

You're nullish but replaced in and have said enough that I don't feel like voting you day 1. Cape has been here since the start but hadn't really impressed.

bugspray leaning into the outrage as a way to avoid actually playing the game takes my "meh" compromise vote to an actually serious one I feel strongly about.

could either/both of you explain to me what you think town!bugspray's reaction to your posts here would be
They're not reacting to me, so this is a nonsense question.
Weird question. Very few players are willing to quickhammer to rush an elimination, even as scum, and eventually enough people started expressing the possibility that I was town that people backed off the idea.
