So, Yume is a role copycat of sorts. Tinfoiling much, what if they gained the role of the players they killed? Enchant talked about changeling, but I don't know if it's the same thing. Should read more, but my inner thermoregulation is slightly bonkers and I'm figuring out if I'm getting a flu within the next few days.

Rage mode is my role, not Yume's evidently.
If I look at the profile picture they chose, it seems more likely that Yume is a scientist, not really a...Sicko. But one could argue that some scientists are sickos.
A purely rational mind doesn't work with empathy but can simulate it, on the emotion side it's easier to fall victim to sympathy, which is making someone's else's emotions your own and impairs decision making processes. Or so I read, once. But there's enough examples I think.
I wouldn't consider myself a purely rational mind, more like someone who prefers to look inward.

My personal take is that sympathy needs to find its way through the labyrinth in our foreheads, and when you don't process it sufficiently and store it back somewhere (at the region where it originated, amygdala and hippocampus), you will physically react. You'd have created an engram. That's a distorted loop. Or you created a reaction.
Outer influences that prevent us from forming loops would block certain pathways required to think differently, that's where education comes in. Apparently there's a brain region for almost everything, but I'm mostly interested in the insula as it has characteristics of functional anatomy that suggest a new type of lobe, perhaps?
Also cause I smoke quite a bit and tend to approach new interests in a very tunneled way.

From its placement, were it to grow uncontrollably, one could imagine heads with side protrusions at some point. Maybe someone managed to construct a brain so big that it's already at that stage before we could reach it in time, and this brain has started to sort people by similarities to itself.
