i am not convinced they do because to be honest
the real name mechanic kinda seems specifically designed to work with cult to limit the power of recruiting specific people

Based off my role, I think the same goes for town's effective power

I think the set up balance is probably based around "town needing real names to be 100% effective with PRs" vs "scum needing real names to target specific people"

Threat kills, day play control, yeah.

Hitting scum early is probably the main play, but that’s kinda difficult to do.

In theory there are roles that could help, and scum could miss a recruit phase, but yeah.

On that note, there has to be a mechanism to skip nights of recruits; a straight-out

every-night recruit would be unbalanceable even with the name thing, hell even if it were just random, unless perhaps there's a flagbearer or something.

Look, the "names" mechanic has a hard massclaim-like counter, so I bet there must be some mechanism in place to punish that

Aye, except that I'm not sure how much we can gather off flips alone given that there is going to be a massive sampling bias for obvious reason. At least assuming the factional abilities are going to be redacted on flips, etc

I don't even know if Mafia is an appropriate term for the "informed minority" faction in this game, let alone whether they can multitask. XD

It's certainly not a Normal game so it doesn't need to be announced. Probably not even any way of knowing during the game, really, unless we start seeing flips that specify they can multitask. But I'd be kind of surprised to see that.
