I think this dream is neutral in earlier days, and negative-utility as we approach ELo. Which probably makes it a good early choice

If it even still works in Elo, the plurality requirement suffices to make it neutral.

If this is an unresolved question to the mods, I don't think a single person would enjoy waiting multiple days in Elo for a vote to go through.

Alisae is incorrect. The dominant strategy is to vote the best-looking dreams available.

First, we may see the dream again means we may not. The moderators will have extras, and this one is unlikely to be the best dream available. Second, even if we do see it later, it will likely be more desirable later: a neutral, known dream is better than dreams that all look bad.

Finally, if you are worried about scum discarding a good dream, this option is always available barring role interference. It is best to stack the selection to ensure a desirable dream remains. Scum will also likely have one selection override, but picking the slide Day 1 will not get them to burn it.

I don't really enjoy the extended dialogue about this from a quality of life perspective.

I don't have any reads. I read the setup and the dream post and then briefly skimmed through everything else

I tried to read Gimli's push on me but got nowhere. At first I was thinking scum are more likely to do what Gimli is doing with the aggressive push and eagerness to openly solve during Moonlight because it seems townie and scum want to seem townie. Then I thought about it and realized that there are some town benefits to pushing people even if we can't fade anyone yet. Reactions and whatnot

I do think townies may be more likely to focus on the dreams at first since that's what this phase is here for but that's weak speculation, so I'm unapologetically sitting on the fence for now

Setup rule 8 says:

Unchosen Dreams that aren't revealed or discarded can show up again on future Moonrise phases.

So... it seems like the slide can't show up again in the future since it's been revealed. Though I could be misunderstanding something, that rule could refer only to the dream revealed in the pick three mechanic.

I just finished a game with scum Gimli and he was trying very hard to pocket basically the entire playerlist (and succeeding in no small degree), but not really solving. Here I can feel that he wants to solve. The difference is day and night. I am simply going to treat Gimli as mod-confirmed town.

what were you hoping to get out of people's reactions to this and did you learn anything

I disagree with this read. I think the fact that there are 7 people from that game in this game might cause Gimli to think he should act differently here

Third, @fire: I was hoping to get absolutely nothing! That post wasn't a reaction test or anything, I was just stating my thoughts. I mean I guess I did hope on some level that posting a read would somehow help to maybe squeeze out of RVS (which I think did happen even though I haven't done more than a cursory skim of anything since my last post), but I didn't really plan for anything consciously. I just posted it because I felt like posting it.

It probably came out wrong so I just wanna clarify that I don't think I was necessarily the driving force in getting out of RVS even though Prism did post a scumread of me and you did post a question/shade/idk of me so I'd say it did achieve something wrt to getting out of RVS, but again my objective wasn't that, I just had a read and I posted it because that's what you do with early reads, you post them and hope that somehow or another you're going to end up out of RVS

Have I created a word salad? Perhaps. However I'll have you know that it was a word salad made by a townperson. And also that my read on Gimli is real and confident and, to use a usesPython term (sort of), townpilled. And also I think, if I'm allowed to indulge in usesPython imitation, that questioning that read is cringe and mafpilled.

I actually disliked the pocketing interaction buuuut I thought the fact that he didn't lean into my townread of him just a few posts prior felt extremely town. Like as scum I'd expect him to lean into it and pocket me rather than look like he's suspecting me for no reason.

I'm curious, if I showed you games where scum!Gimli was aggressive and tried to seem like he was solving early would that change your mind at all?
