I hate phoneposting so I will make a real post later but Overcat seems town.

UNVOTE: Overcat

I actually kind of like Luka saying my entry was awkward because it was, a bit. (I was really just ego posting and forced a joke in there to make it a "real" RVS post.) Doesn't make them town but I'm giving them a point for noticing.

In post 32, Overcat wrote: Being voted as soon as I join my first game. Anxiety inducing.
Openly admitting to being anxious about being voted strikes me as towny, because my instinct as scum is "be cool, don't overreact" when I get an early vote. Particularly as newb scum I would be trying to put on an "I don't even care that I got voted" front, but Overcat just flat out says they do care which is probably a genuine non-contrived reaction and so a town one.

What TMI? And how does being new counterindicate that?
In post 62, JacksonVirgo wrote: Luka is being quite antagonistic which inherently makes me want to vote them, I don't think they're actually scummy though. This could be overcorrection but I don't think scum!luka would be this aggressive this early. Especially when immediately discounting your words like he had. It's not nice, but I don't think it's scummy
Note to self, skim Luca's scum games to see if there's precedent for them going aggro early on.
In post 63, JacksonVirgo wrote: Actually no, the TMI comment is wack

JV gets a townpoint for the sudden about-face. I think scum psyching themselves up to vote Luka just doesn't make post #62 first.
In post 77, Hu Tao wrote: Thoughts on Luka saying cat is scummy?
I don't really get it but I'm happy to give them a chance to explain it. I have seen plenty of reads I don't really get come from town.
In post 78, Eiralox wrote: I don't have a read on Luka but I don't like any of the pushes launched at her so far. My gut did scream scum are in the grouping.
I don't understand what "scum are in the grouping" means here. What grouping?

I can't tell if this is a joke or you can't tell that my post was a joke
So the tl on the slot was a joke? I'm aware that the latter sentence was a joke, but the former is as well?
At the time of the post I was just saying I like them as in terms of their vibe. But now I do actually tr them
Townpoint to Hu Tao for trying to make their position and trajectory transparent at the expense of a clean narrative. (Either "I just meant I like them as a player" or "I was/am townreading them because..." would be cleaner narratives that would be easier to pick if you are just making something up)

  • I'm town.
  • FancyPants is town.
  • Overcat, JV, Hu Tao get provisional town leans.
  • This leaves {KayJayQueue, Luka, ceejayvinoya, Eiralox}.
VOTE: ceejayvinoya

I like this for now. No one really has a strong ISO yet but this is the weakest of the lot. The only opinion they've expressed so far is "I like " which is... fine, I like 36 too, but that's not even so much as a read if they don't say more than that about it.

Ceejay, if you had to pick a launch right now what would it be and why?

You're going to declare someone the top suspect based on their tattoos and motor tics? Yikes.

Also that analogy has no persuasive force. You have to actually say why Luka is more suspect and Ceejay less so, you can't just say what they're "like."

Eiralox, are you normally this... passive? I don't really remember. You seem content to just park your vote on whoever you think is highest prob scum, not try to convince anyone else nor push to learn more. Do you agree that accurately describes your approach?

Mostly yes. I do have some to say but I'm keeping chill for a bit. Before taking a mafia break my playstyle was actively detrimental to my mental health and at times others' experience, I mostly joined this game because I saw Ceejay was in it and generally am in a better place right now, but that's all mostly out of game.

I feel good about you and Hu Tao so far, as inferred by a prior post. Beyond that Jackson is probably towniest just for effort and the best opening post.
I like this answer (mostly that it's a "yes, that's exactly what I'm doing" instead of a "no you're misrepping me" or something like that).

Getting bent out of shape about JV's read of you specifically when they aren't even scumreading you, just saying there are things to go "hmm" about, is really hypersensitive and I don't like it.

HEM, this reason for a push on Luka is pretty bad imo. People forget PRs all the time as both alignments. If anything I think town forget them a little more often. Scum still need to keep track of who is the IC if only to remember to shoot them at night.

What would you want to see in order to form some stronger reads and form an actual opinion on whom to eliminate?

Aside from their push on me, can you elaborate on the vote?
Also, anybody w/ meta able to tell me if they're a good town or not? Or, at least their general thought process as town.
It was mostly their push on you that made me think about them again, and then I remembered they were replacing Ceejay who had been in my scum pool, and when I looked through their posts I got a bad gut feeling. Let me look through them again and either convince or unconvince myself of it in the process of trying to explain.

Spoiler: a few HEM posts

First of all: this is going to sound really dumb but they made too many joke posts in their intro. One or two is cool, 5-6 is just fluffing.
In post 156, humaneatingmonkey wrote: I think Luka forgetting that FancyPants should be green might be a direct consequence of knowing everyone who is also green! VOTE: Luka
It's not that this is even a bad reason for suspicion, it's just... not enough, when there are already other things happening in the game.
In post 191, humaneatingmonkey wrote: Lame.

Your naked votes are useless. If you're gonna hide behind my wagon, at least pretend to have some thought with it. Lather it with words and make yourselves readable.
I don't like this post because it's not a useful thing to push on. If you want Eiralox's reasoning then ask for it, but this complaint isn't going anywhere unless HEM thinks it makes Eira scum, and naked-voting is far too common a practice, for better or worse, for HEM to really think it is meaningfully >rand scum.
In post 195, humaneatingmonkey wrote: Hi, my name is Eiralox and I think I'm so cool because I use words like 'onus'. That's right! Also, I like naked voting because I'm lame and one time in sixth grade I pooped myself in the school bus.
Actually I find this more rude than scummy in a vacuum, but based on my (admittedly very outdated) experience with HEM they are not rude like this. HEM, is this a reaction test or what?
In post 197, humaneatingmonkey wrote: He says, thinking he has the high ground despite naked voting.
In post 199, humaneatingmonkey wrote: Ah I see. So your vote is pointless and you're not really looking for anything? Gotcha.
Like seriously chill out about this. Why didn't you get on my case the same way for naked-voting you? What's the difference?
In post 239, humaneatingmonkey wrote: To Luka or anyone else who might use this argument: I am less convinced about "too wolfy to be wolf" arguments because sometimes wolves can just be wolves and sometimes the instinct to call them wolfy is right. I feel like I need to be able to weigh it against all other instances where I can label their behavior as town if I want to really cross them out of my pool. Would you disagree?
In post 243, humaneatingmonkey wrote: Do you imagine anyone else joining you in Hu Tao's wagon in the meantime? And you have described Eiralox as "too wolfy"... but Hu Tao seems wolfier for you?
There is nothing wrong with these posts and I saw some other people give HEM points for "good questions" here, but really they are not hard questions for scum to ask. Finding a seeming contradiction and poking at it is the easiest way to fake scumhunting which is something any half-competent scum player must do. (This is not to say these posts make HEM scum but that they don't make them town.)

How can you overlook something that you already have been informed by? If you're working on a solve, you should have internalized it at that point - and even before grilling someone else about it. It's still possible they did, but I think it leans scum.
Okay, this is the point where I get the sense that HEM is faking a tunnel on Luka because they think it is a defensible stance for them to take. They
know
it's possible Luka missed this as town, because Luka did in fact miss this as town, so they make a nod to that, but then say it "leans scum." But they are making Luka their star scumspect, not just "leaning scum" on them! Indeed they follow up later with

If they think it's a surefire definite slip, why say it's "still possible" town missed it? Only because they are trying to be sure they aren't caught saying anything outright refutable. This is a scummy way to push a wagon and it's enough to put HEM at the bottom of my reads.

I first told HEM their push on Luka was bad because I wanted to see their response to me before voting. But a few hours later having not seen a response and with the discussion seeming dead, I decided I might as well vote since I already liked him for scum better than I did KayJay, who honestly made a fair point in . She's right, scum would more likely just take the TR and not disturb it unless they had some goal in mind.

There are a lot of new posts and there is maybe a 30% chance I actually read and retain them but I still remember that I really hated and looking back I still hate it. Wanting to end the day quickly while still being undecided on your own reads is an unnatural position for town to take, normally it's either "can we just launch X already because we all know they're town" or "I need more time to think about this." I particularly don't like that Hu Tao suggests this because
she
is terrible at day 1, independent of whether maybe someone else might be good at it. Could vote here.

I really have no idea about Luka independently but HEM-Luka is definitely not svs. (I try to cultivate the habit of saying obvious things out loud)

Sort of V/LA for the weekend but will look in now and again.

Still like my vote.

I read and there's really nothing that happened that I want to respond to. I sympathize with KayJay saying she can't get reads out of anything that's happening, this is a hard game to form strong opinions in.

HEM did ask me why I still like my vote for him, which I agree is a weird question because, like, I like it for the same reasons I did when I made it.
In post 744, humaneatingmonkey wrote: Oh damn.

Hey GIF isn't probably showing up until deadline, Firebringer. Do you want to keep your vote there?
This is kind of a funny question since your vote is also there.

I don't think the naked vote leans scum inherently, I just wanted to force them to verbalize why they naked voted so they can be readable.
But you also said

which sounds a lot like you are leaning scum on Eiralox because of the naked vote. Why would you worry about tunneling on and leading everyone else toward the elimination of someone you aren't scumreading?

Eiralox was trying to be sassy, so I went sassy. When they started to stonewall me, I brought it back to a level but they kept stonewalling me.
This was... not really something I was scumreading you for anyway, just a side observation I made in the post, so I don't know what to do with the answer. Sure, I guess.

In post 643, Umlaut wrote: Why didn't you get on my case the same way for naked-voting you? What's the difference?
Part of the day. The naked votes on me came as I replaced in, and with no context, and in a part of the day where there isn't much activity from the game. Meanwhile I had more context for yours, and I asked for your reason anyway, and we're in a much deeper part of the game
Again: sure, I guess.

Okay fine, I'm not sure they're surefire definite slip. I feel like they could be slips and I feel strongly about them, and I voted and faked confidence to see their reaction. When their reaction was taunt and make fun of my mafia skills, I knew it was going to be a fruitless route so I dropped it immediately.
It's not that this is a bad answer per se, it's just that it's pretty much the answer you have to give if you aren't going to say, "Whoops, guess I'm scum." You have to retract at least one of the two contradictory stances you took and the easiest way is to say you were projecting confidence to get a reaction. It doesn't really acquit you.

It is very close to deadline and the wagons are HEM, me, and JV.

I'm not voting for me.

I feel like if HEM were going to go through it would have.

I am pretty sure JV flips green and don't want to vote there.

What do?

Really hate this attitude. I have seen wagons form from nothing near deadline and I'm sure you have too. Moreover since I know I flip green I don't like the "I just can't help voting here"

Could vote Hu for thar but we are close to deadline and I don't want to split the vote even more. I will go along with Eira if that's where we are going, that nonspecific PR claim is meaningless.

Though I don't really see the scum benefit in Eira defending me here. It could be white knighting but I don't feel like I'm the kind of player that happens to.

No, I'm VT. I don't know what I'm at but I might as well claim even if it's not E-1.

If Eiralox made a specific PR claim I probably wouldn't be willing to vote there because it would sort itself out eventually, it's the nonspecific "I'm a PR" and refusal to specify that seems like just trying to wriggle out of a wagon gaining momentum.
