I'm running a Mini-Theme called
Real Time Mafia. The deal is that there are no day/night phases (quasi-nightless i suppose). Every power role can use their power as often as they wish, but when they use it they have a recharge time. Some roles will have durations (for example, a doc's protection might last a day). Right now I have the town able to lynch as often as they're able to get a majority, with the Lynch + 24 hours limitation (i.e. when majority is reached, there's a 24 hour period where people can change their votes to try and get a plurality on another player). So, theoretically town could lynch every 24 hours. I'm considering putting in a slight recharge time for lynch (say lynches can happen no closer than 3 days apart).
So a few issues. First, I run into the problem of not knowing how long exactly town will take for each lynch in regards to a mafia kill. If town is super active and the mafia have a long recharge time between kills, it's possible that town will just lynch and lynch and lynch and mafia will never kill anyone. That raises some serious balance issues. A possible solution would be to tie mafia's kill power somewhat to a lynch. For example, "you may kill again either 3 days after any lynch or after 10 days after your previous kill, whichever comes first."
Second, obviously the roles will need to be carefully balanced. In addition to balancing powers, the timing of each role is important to assure balance.
So I'm looking for any help from anyone who wants to talk about this and isn't planning on playing in the game. If you think this is an interesting concept and want to play, PM me to /pre-in (currently at 5/12). If you'd be willing to talk about the setup (I have yet to actually start drafting a setup, so this would start general and work its way to specific), PM me.
Finally, because this game is real time and involves instant power usage, I'd love to have a co-mod to help out. Again, give me a PM.
