I've been trying a few scenarios, but couldn't make the case one way or the other. On one hand you get something even though the Cop dies, but on the other you make it more likely to happen as zMuffin and Quilford have pointed out. The breaker for me is that people would have to act weird to protect their hypo-identity, making scum-hunting difficult.

The theory sucks a big one for a huge reason. If we just do innocents what does the cop do when he gets a guilty on someone?

There's no millers, obviously.
If he gets a guilty on somebody, he obviously claims and he gets the guy lynched.
If he really did turn out to be scum, then a Faith Healer would obviously protect him, although its 50% but still helps, then yeah.
The cop wouldn't be dead by then.

Im against hypo cop but its not a terrible idea given we have very weak protective roles. Although it narrows down cop for scum, it also helps us gain additional info from the night kills that do happen. Still, don't think we should do it. Cop should just stay hidden and figure out another way to get his reports out.

Cop claims with a guilty then night phase comes. Both Faith Healers will probably target him and then there's a 0% chance he'll survive. Or they'll each assume the other will protect him and it still ends badly for town.
