CONTROVERSY:

Nominate dramonic for Big Gay Fluffy Owl

Second word is obvious.
Other words are av-based, but I can attest that all of dramonic's avs since he joined have been owls.
Not punny or deeply meaningful, but it was previously acknowledged in some thread or another that forumgoers identify him as precisely what the title says.

I find it amusing that a whiny argument over titles has erupted and I'm not in it.

"Fat and sassy" isn't particularly unlike UT's site presence, and it has been approved by the significant number of people for whom it would hold meaning. That's all.
Untrod Tripod wrote:What about Reck's title? Are you saying that GD threads are more "real" and "official" than scumchat, so it's kosher?
Actually, it's my understanding that that IS the policy.

shaft.ed wrote:I think the only way to solve the current problem is that anyone with a title must have a schtick to explain said title to anyone who may read their post and not realize why the title is there. If the title bearer fails to uphold their schtick, then they lose the title
I already suggested this :P

You could, however, make the title a link to either the event for which the title was given OR the post in the Title Fairy thread where the title was explained.

So Vi's title changes to 'Best town mechanic behind the scenes' next year then right? >_>
"Best Town Professor Paragon Mechanic Behind the Scenes".
If I keep going with this my title will either take up three lines or stretch the sidebar across half the page.

Oman: Is Sotty7 That Damn Good yet?
Since it got community approval at least a month ago and everything.

Also can Kublai Khan be Khan Man yet?
Puns and username repetition aside it's the best title suggested for him by a wide margin, there are multiple games where the title suited him very well (that one where he claimed Miller D1 without knowing about being investigated N0, and that one where he killed his scumpartner), and etc.

I'm not sure if the fact that all Kangaskhans are female is a plus or minus for the title.

Also, this one is improperly written, and has been for years:

Kast:

Also, whatever happened to

Make it happen, Cap'n!
What is your major malfunction, kid? Seriously, do you not understand when shit just isn't going your way? Sometimes things don't work out perfectly for little Charles, and when that happens you don't complain and fight it every goddamn post until everybody breaks down and buys you your icecream, you shut up and say "you know maybe there is a BIGGER PICTURE than what I want".

Get over yourself, dude.
To be fair and at risk of provoking you, ReaperCharlie is very much correct in this regard.
The first two make an aesthetic difference; the one for Kast suggests that the person putting in the title doesn't actually know about tl;dr.

ConSpiracy wrote:I read MagnaofIllusion's title and I do get the meaning of it.
However, it isn't a very good title this way.
It would be far nicer to play in a game with MoI with the text:
Will be killed night 1

That way, the past tense doesn't refer to nothing (since it can't mean anything apart from endgame)
I sense a ConSpiracy to cause time paradoxes in the (hypothetical, mythical) games where Moai
isn't
killed N1.

Questions about my play aside, "Professor Paragon" has a nice alliterative ring to it. As long as the title sounds as good or better than that, I can settle for anything. ("The Librarian" doesn't qualify as sounding as good or better.)

I'm a little disappointed in zoraster's (on occasion completely accurate!) description of me as bitchy. Of late, the nice/cooperative approach hasn't been my first choice, especially if I felt that I had to convince someone of something. I'll see if I can work on that.

It depends on the job. Government jobs that require a security clearance? They may very well do so. Your average employer? Very unlikely to actually ask you to list internet accounts. That's not to say they won't google the crap out of your name though.
This. Its possible I may go into such a job in the future. I'm not sure the exact likeliness, but its better than 0.

The practice is becoming more prevalent though, and is not limited to just government employers. That being said, my brother (police) had to, and I'm sure I will eventually have to as well.
For a security clearance I can understand it. For a police department it just reminds me of this. For everyone else I have to wonder how much they want to know about your personal life (it's easy enough to find co-workers backbiting with simple facebook searches for their name).

Also, what Xalxe said.

Somehow I just don't think LLD wants "Bandwagoning Ho" as her title. I've been wrong before on things like this, but etc.

Pretty much everyone who has seen Umineko has tried red text before.

I don't know what anyone's titles mean who got them before I joined the site.

Tierce's, that everyone likes? It's mostly understandable now, but it won't in four to six months for anyone who's not currently on the site.
saulres, I'm not trying to be mean, but you generally don't know a lot of things about complete strangers over the Internet when you first meet them.

If a title's cool, and it reflects something about the player, and the player gets a kick out of it, I'm not seeing a problem.
The proposed title for Mr. Flaysal fails the first and (IIRC) third category, and probably the second one as well.
