You haven't explained how I'm supposed to gain any protection as Scum for myself by claiming Mason with someone who I know is not my Mason partner. What I would be doing is making someone (Toast) completely unlynchable for the rest of the game. Protip: Scum don't like to completely cut off mislynch targets in the pregame. What I would also be doing is putting the claim in your hands; at
point in the game, you would have been able to come out and counterclaim me, and there would be no question in anyone's mind that I was the one lying. And obviously it also means one more person that I wouldn't be able to kill for the rest of the game. Scum also don't like doing that, for obvious reasons.
Now, pretend I'm Town for a second. In that case, I would have protected you from being mislynched for the rest of the game, since I know you're Town and you know you're Town. I would have painted the NK target on my and your back, which is also a good thing. We also only have 72 hours to get someone to a
majority
of votes, since no lynch at deadline ends in NL. And again, since there was no chance of you being lynched today regardless (see: 'Anyone with 2 brain cells' argument), I thought it best to just get the idiots and/or Scum who were going after you to focus their efforts on someone who actually might be lynched today.
