Question: are the other games in the Rockstar Collection worth shelling out the difference between the Rockstar Pack and the GTA Classics Pack? Because if not, I'm going to get the GTA Classics pack today.
Games in the Rockstar pack not in the GTA classics pack:
Bully: Scholarship Edition
GTA IV
Manhunt
Max Payne
Max Payne 2
Midnight Club 2
Keep in mind I've beaten Bully and both Max Paynes, and wasn't crazy about GTA IV (though I only played through like a quarter of it).

I rationalized it as "Well I won't be able to pay rent/bills until my next paycheck anyway and my next paycheck more than covers all of it so what the hell"

I've heard good things about Torchlight, but everything else on that list is either something I'd rather own on a console, or too expensive for my starving wallet.

Better option: buy the Valve Complete Pack.
But if that's out of the question, then absolutely. L4D2 is probably one of my top ten favorite games of all time just because it's so much fun, but it's also highly skill-based. You'll learn to listen for little audio cues to watch for threats, you'll learn to conserve ammo better, you'll learn to find shortcuts to cut off large areas of large zombies... I could go on and on, but you get the idea. L4D2's versus mode is perhaps one of the most fun multiplayer modes ever, but yes it helps if you have friends who play it on Steam, or at least get into a game where everyone uses a microphone.
I used to play the game at least three hours a day, and I still find myself having loads of fun when I go back to it... granted, I'm not nearly as good now as I was back then, but I'd be down to play if you pick it up. We had a 3v3 versus match going the other night made up only of MS.net players.

EDIT-Does anyone know anything about sanctum if it's any good? It sounds like a cool concept "Tower defense FPS"
It's fun. Like JD said, it's not polished in some areas, but in general the mechanics are interesting enough to keep you hooked for awhile. JD, Gurgi, and I haven't made it past eight waves yet, though I would agree having a full four-person team is probably the only realistic way to accomplish that.

OHHHHHHHHHH SHIT AMNESIA IS ON SALE. I'M SUCH A PUSSY I COULDN'T FINISH THE DEMO.
I think I remember playing The Last Remnant at my friend's house YEARS ago... but I don't remember it looking that pretty. Still, looks like a typical JRPG.
I already have played or own the rest of that stuff... not to mention, it seems very 'bleh' overall. Except for maybe Worms Reloaded but eh.

I also have Terraria so if anyone is hosting a server let me know.
@hascow: Hitman can be played however you want. It's a third person action game, but you can choose to play every level by sneaking through them and not alerting anyone using only stealth kills and environmental kills, or you can go in guns blazing and fight the good fight.
I personally strived for no alerts on any level. To give you an idea of the gameplay, there's a level in Blood Money where you have to break into a rehab center. So you steal some guy's entry pass, get in the facility, then knock out a nurse/staff and take their uniform. Once you have access to the study, one of your kill targets is in there. He's secretly hiding a flask of whiskey in a globe. You have the option of poisoning the flask when nobody is looking, or you can run upstairs, plant charges on the chandelier, and drop it on his skull when he's standing at the globe. Alternatively, you can just walk in and slice his throat, if that's more your style.
Hitman: Blood Money is the only game I have ever 100%'d on every difficulty. It's that damn compelling.

Today's sale is just rehash of other sales.
If you didn't get them last time they were on sale, scoop up Terraria and Sanctum. Great indie games, seriously.
Keep in mind Assassin's Creed is a FRANCHISE sale, and you can get AC/AC2/ACB for the grand total of $25.

This could not be further from the truth. There's no reason for anyone to own L4D and not L4D2 now that all the original maps and characters are available in the sequel. Not to mention the addition of the Spitter, Jockey, and Charger balances the game a whole hell of a lot more.
