Can we downgrade the server?

1.2.3 is ridiculously laggy for several people (including me, but that will hopefully change when I get my new laptop for my brithday in 7 days) so downgrading to 1.1 should make it much better.

I have a 1.1 .jar file if anyone needs it (because I do the right thing and copy the folder before I overwrite it).

No, we can't. The world now contains Iron Golems, Jungle Wood, Jungle Leaves, Ocelots, Redstone Lamps, Circle Stone Bricks, Fire Charges, and so on. Downgrading would crash the server every time we tried to use it, just like if you do a shoddy job of uninstalling a mod.

Bad luck . Have you:

- Set all your video settings to minimum - "fast" graphics, no smooth lighting, etc.
- Decreased your rendering range to "short" or "tiny"
- Installed Optifine - makes things go faster

Well thats probably the cause of all the lag/framerate issues then.

I remember way back reading a thread about mods that increased the height, but it caused massive lag. When reading about the official update increasing the height, they said they revamped their engine or something for better performance, but aparently they didn't do as good as they thought then

The walls are complete! There is new real estate inside the town walls for people to build. There's even a small pond someone can claim.

The new ground is pretty uneven, so hopefully I'll fix that tonight. Also, because the town walls are just so long now, I'll be making a gate on the south side. Button-operated T Flip-flop piston door, anyone?

@World height: Yes, if you start building above 128 THEN it starts to lag. however it doesn't cause me extra lag until I am up above 128.

Yeah, I've made a regular XNOR piston gate, to match the others. But I still maintain that a Button attached to a T flip-flop is better. Especially since then you can have a button on the outside and a plate on the inside.

Yeah, that would be a problem...

A T Flip-flop is a circuit with a single input, which toggles the output when one of them is powered. You can split that between two non-switch inputs, so that pressing either button/pad will toggle the state of the output, opening or closing the door.

This is why Minecraft needs an Iron Pressure Plate, only activated by players.

Which is why I used an XNOR for the town gate anyway. For something I made just for my use, I'd use a different method.
