Okay, one last thing:

If a creature has first strike AND double strike, that means it strikes twice before the other creature, right?

Because DS = a preemptive strike then a normal strike
FS = your normal strike hits first

right?

Roughly;

Regular = Deals no damage in the first combat step and deals damage in the second combat step.

First Strike = Deals damage in first combat step but none in the second step.

Double Strike = Deals damage in both first and second steps.

If you give a creature both it doesn't do anything as everything with double strike already has first strike, it's like trying to give a creature double flying.

Easier way to look at it, there's two combat damage steps: First strike and normal. A creature with first strike deals damage in the first step, a cretaure with neither FS nor DS hits in the second step. Double Strike means it deals both First strike and regular combat damage.

Bah. Lame.

So as a basic idea, how does this UB Homicidal Seclusion deck work?

I'm wary of putting in Bone Splinters simply because I don't have enough creatures to be sacrificing them for Bone Splinters. Plus, with Demonic Taskmaster/Alchemist's sacrifice abilities, the morbid trigger on Tragic Slip is enough to destroy pretty much anything.

I have most of these cards (though not playsets of all of them) so what would you guys recommend? I'm changing it up a bit by throwing in some Marrow Bats.

I like it, but Marrow Bats and Wingcrafter seem like bad choices. I'd run Invisible Stalkers, personally. Stick that with a Homicidal Seclusion and you're basically set.

Also, equipments are always nice things to have. Spectral Flight also wouldn't be a wasted slot. Comes down early, makes everything a threat. Allows the possibility of T1 Fume Spitter (Or Delver, or Diregraf Ghoul, or Typhoid Rats), T2 Flight, swing 3.

The reason I chose Marrow Bats is because with the lifelink, I'd heal for 7 life each turn... if I needed to regenerate, I could just pay 4 life and regenerate the bats.

I do have a playset of Invisible Stalkers, I think. Nice idea.

Well, Bone Splinters usually sucks outside of Limited, unless you're running creatures that want to get sacrificed, like Black Cat. This is a loner deck, so it wants to only have one creature in play at a time, so it runs things like Bone Splinters over Doom Blade so it can get rid of the extras. This makes Wingcrafter a really odd choice, since it only works when it's Soulbonded, which shuts off Homicidal Seclusion and Predator's Gambit. As a general rule, Loner decks thrive on control (since otherwise you'll get killed by aggro decks that can overwhelm your one creature) and especially kill (or you'll get overwhelmed by control decks, who drop a bigger creature than you do).

Some tips: You really want a lot of board control effects, because the Loner strategy means you won't be advancing your own board; thus you'll want to sabotage your opponent's board as much as possible. Mana Leak, Dissipate, and kill spells are your friends. Remember that keywords don't stack with each other, so 2x Homicidal Seclusion gives +6/+2, but only one incidence of lifelink. Predator's Gambit and Bone Splinters both suck, since you have fewer creatures, they'll be eating more of your opponent's kill; thus, you're going to have trouble having a creature to sac to Bone Splinters, and Predator's Gambit becomes a waste if they just kill what it's attached to. Best bet is to run something like Mortarpod, then Black Cat, Soulcage Fiends, and Perilous Myr; play them, sac them, get the effect when they go the graveyard, and use them as beats if necessary. Demonic Taskmaster is good for a Loner deck, but Lone Revenant is far too slow. Something like Invisible Stalker or Delver may be better, just because they come out faster, and you can apply loner bonuses to them earlier.

But the most important part is going to be the board control.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

So you're running a 3UU 4/4 with no evasion in a world with titans.

Why would you do this thing?

Ended up modifying the deck a bit after playtesting. Lone Revenant isn't a good call, since he never gets out on the board and if he does, he doesn't do much.

Actually I got the impression that Reck plays more than casually, which makes that a legitimate question.

Went to FNM last night, friend/other roomie paid for my draft in exchange for us drafting any of my prizes at the end of the night (and he keeps whatever I pull in the draft). Went with RW Humans and won all three matches 2:1, most of them very close. Won six packs, which at first I chose Avacyn, then switched to 2/2/2 across the block since my roommate only has AVR cards. Guy I played in the last match won three packs, which he chose from the four I put back and got a Tibalt. :<

Went ahead and just gave my roomie all the cards I would have drafted for his Acidic Slime promo (Conscripts, Geralf's Messenger, green card in Inn that gives you tapped/attacking wolf tokens when you swing with it, some transformable that spawns Vamp tokens, nothing else of note) which he got randomly for whatever reason. So now I have two shiny versions of one of my favorite cards.

Certainly beats the last draft I went to, when I lost every single game... I guess spending a few hours practicing drafts online and via phone app paid off.

I drafted last night too. Has 0 luck for bombs, but had a solid R/G Aggro deck. In any other Limited Environment, I would have been golden. Unfortunately, AVR Limited means that I got blown out by other people with better bombs every time.

That said, I got an idea for a standard deck from it, so it's not a total bust. Simic unblockables, here I come.

Used some site called Bestiare for draft practice (not the best, but it worked) and MtG Booster for Android (for when I was bored at work and/or not near my comp).

Almost got blown out by a UG deck though. Got up to 37 life and her down to three, with Thunderbolt in hand, when she played the 6-drop Angel that gives you life for controlled creatures, with a Vorstclaw, unbonded Shieldmate, and Druid's+Ulvenwald Tracker out. Managed to draw a Fervent Cathar to freeze the 7/7 after whittling her down a bit prior, swung for enough damage to drop her to 2 and Thunderbolted next turn.

First game went against another R/W (with black splash) that won their first game with a Gisela after I hard-casted Terminus; despite me stalling with Leap of Faith, my Hound of Griselbrand only swung for 12, or 6, and he was at 8 life. Fucking Blood Artists, man.

Third game, was against a mono-black deck that raped me first game with Corpse Traders + Butcher Ghoul/Soulcage Fiend/etc.. Basically destroyed my hand and I couldn't do anything. Last match was close; I blocked his Soulcage fiend dropping me to like 5 and him to 1, and he only had enough mana to either activate Corpse and discard my TBolt, or play a Searchlight Geist (and I had a white-Geist out on the field).
