The only thing that crosses my mind in response to monowhite is "protection from white, oops"

That's fine, though. The whole point of the mono white humans deck is to take a metric fuckload of small creatures and make them fucking MASSIVE. You have protection from white on a couple creatures? That's fine, the next six creatures still swing and hit.

I'm assuming what you're calling "a good monowhite deck" is out of everyone's budget.

Dram, most Standard decks are nowhere near expensive, especially if you do drafts to get yourself stuff to trade with. My Heartless Deck is my crowning achievement, since I haven't ordered a single card in the whole deck. I traded for everything or pulled them in boosters. Given that the actual value of the deck is near $300, I'm pretty proud of that.

For Mono-W humans, the only money cards (Above $1) are Champion of the Parish, Honor of the Pure, and MAYBE Restoration Angel.

Well, if you want the super top-tier decks, they can be. But, for example, I'm working towards this deck, and it should only cost me about... $40-$50 max. Already have the Pods, Geralf's costs about ~$13 for a playset, the commons/rares run about $10-$15 total (minus what I can trade for), and the Gravecrawlers are the priciest at about $20 for a set. Plus, even though Pods rotate out in about 3 months, the zombies are staples in zombie decks so they'll still be useful.

But yeah, $75-$100 is pretty damn cheap for a good at-least-FNM-level deck.

(also this deck looks like a blast to play)

The most expensive Standard deck (to my knowledge) is Frites, which lands somewhere near $350, but most of this is from dual lands and a playset of Elesh Norn.

And yeah, Zomb-Pod looks fun as all hell.

Yeah, dual lands can get kinda pricy. I'm thinking of trying to trade for a set of Woodland Cemetery for ZombPod/Blood For The Blood Pod, but I don't think I'll be able to do so before they rotate out because I don't have a ton of money cards. Sad.

Woodland Cemetery doesn't rotate for another year. You've got plenty of time. The Scars lands are the ones to avoid.

Also, it took me until now to figure out that the title is misspelled.

I meant that the pods rotate in a few months. So the Cemeteries will be useful still, yes, but not for this deck.

Unless Reck and co. let me still use my Pod deck after rotation because lolcasualplay but I bet Reck won't let me as he hates Birthing Pod with a passion. <_<

I played this for a bit in FNM. Its fun as hell, but Kamikaze is a much stronger zombie deck. Point of emphasis, I went 2-2, 1-3, and 2-2 in three weeks with Zombie Pod, while I've gone 4-0, 3-0-1, and 4-0 with Kamikaze. So far I'm undefeated in rounds with this deck. Round of 8 has been annoying though (two exits in quarter finals, and one 1st place.) We normally get 18-30 in the store, three-five of the players have placed pretty high in PTQs and other big events (not top 8 or anything). Granted, all zombie decks have a lot of issues with white decks. Fuck them.

I mean... Zombies just isnt a good deck right now in any incarnation. For pod, you really want to be in some combination of RWG.

http://www.starcitygames.com/magic/stan ... s_Due.html stomps both Delver, WRR, and RG aggro, and most token decks. Seriously blows them out. Its actually a really strong deck. But it has a lot of trouble with R/W humans (I have maybe a 40-50% win-rate against them) and gets stomped by mono-white (maybe 20% win-rate right now). Fuck Mirran Crusader and Angelic Destiny.

Like... No it does not "stomp delver." If it beat delver consistently like 35-40% of the meta would be playing it. A similar thing happened recently with the mono green deck. And RG aggro and tokens aren't really decks.

I haven't personally lost to delver in weeks. Granted, that is a very limited sample, but try it out. You'd be pretty surprised how easy it is to combo off of and crush delver.

RG aggro focuses on more small creatures than bombs like WRR does. Yes it is a deck. B/W tokes is probably the most popular token deck, but many control decks nowadays use lingering souls, while most white decks use a lot of tokens (Midnight Haunting, Lingering Souls, Timely Reinforcements, and that two human one.) The issue is that the match up against Delver is strong, granted, but there are a lot of white/partial white decks that beat the hell out of it which are prevalent right now. Zombie isn't popular, so if it punks some big decks its not that likely to be a big deal. There is also a lot of zombie hate that would be more popular if zombie was more popular (Pillar of Flame, Grafdigger Cage) that most people aren't putting in the sideboard right now. So zombie is only that good when people aren't expecting it really.

Yes, but delver doesn't play the cards that really hurt the deck (Revoke Existence, Mirran Crusaider, Sword of Feast and Famine [although some do]), which they would if zombie were more popular. And I play in a meta with about 5 WRR/RG aggro, 3-5 delver depending on the week, and a few other random rogue decks. 1-3 human decks though, which allows my deck to do well. About 6-8 net deck the best decks, others play just what they like, including WWs, Infect, and a couple token decks. (I totally loved the day when someone killed himself by DOJing when I had two blood artist).

It's kinda strange. Most FNM Metas are distinctly lacking in Delver matches.

Delver is a very difficult deck to master. I have a delver deck and don't feel confident in playing it well enough to do better with it than my zombie deck. That being said there is one person in the store I trust is much better than average, although more play it who don't know how to well.

Monowhite tokens can be built for ~$7 on M:tGO. Monowhite Humans is the expensive version.

assuming six people, $20 per for the box and either:
- two drafts
or
- one draft with prizes (5 4 3 2 2 2, 6 5 4 3 0 0 etc)

or, eight people makes one draft with 12 packs split up (and a mere $15 for the box)

although I'd suggest just going to our LGS that can just make all six/eight of us a pod at an 11pm draft since most people never go to that one apparently, this way we get prizes and a promo too

and the non-nerds can go find something else to do (or we can have them come with us and convert them...)
