I think its a fringe-y keyword that people like you will think is awesome and will therefore complain about when it doesn't work as well as they expected. I am reminded of the card browbeat. When it first came out everyone was scrambling to add 4 to any deck they had that contained red, but the problem was it does exactly what you don't want like 90% of the time. You were almost always better up with a straight up burn spell in the slot. These cards seem similar in the sense that people think they're going to work awesome, but they forget that they're going to be playing them as ridiculously overcosted spells probably most of the time.

Anyone who's got a free second, I'd love some suggestions on this. So far, my only real problem comes from drawing my reanimation targets. Tempted to try and squeeze some Trading Posts in to deal with that, but they're really underwhelming.

Playing in my M13 league has been fun so far. The original deck I built was blue/black control and it did decently well... murder, public execution, unsummon, rewind, etc all give me control over the board, and a couple mind sculpt and veldalkan enchanters for mill.

Then I opened a primordial hydra. My deck is now green/red, with:

holy fucking shit this deck. I can keep you from attacking with my Deadly Recluses, melt you or your creatures with Searing Spear or Arms Dealer (esp with the amount of goblins/Krenko's Command), and when I hit 5 mana, I'm throwing out some bomb-ass creature every single turn or using Roaring Primadox to bounce my Acidic Slimes and destroy your entire mana pool every turn. And did I mention Primordial Hydra?

Asceticism (hexproof, regenerate a creature for 2) + Avacyn = huehuehue

Match 1: game 1 went against Grixis control, won first game without Surge, second game surged everything minus Asceticism (mana leaked) when he only had 1B1R up.
Match 2: I don't remember what I was playing against... I know I won, 2:1.
Match 3: Fuck Zombiepod, got 0-2'd.
Match 4: Game 1. He had a hexproof/indestructible flying 5/3 that he gave doublestrike via Paladin, a buffed up Champ-Parish and some Human tokens. I had 8 mana between lands and elves, land/surge/maniac in hand. Played Land and Maniac, passed, he swung for 20, blocked a 1/1 Human. Topdecked a land, surged, told him my entire deck was permanents and passed him my deck. He said fuck you a few times (albeit laughing at how awesome that combo was) and then thrashed me the next two games because white weenie.

Got a pack of Inn, got a 5th Sever The Bloodline. Meh. Worth it for the reactions.
