In post 642 , Umbrage wrote: 10: The Dean. And the dogs. What. What was that? What was the point of that? He has a dog fetish? Is that supposed to be funny? Or is the fact that he hired people to dress as dogs and dance with him supposed to be funny? Was Duncan calling him out on it supposed to be funny? I DON'T KNOW. IT MADE NO FUCKING SENSE. WHY WOULD THEY ADD THAT IN? WHY? WHAT PURPOSE DOES THAT SERVE?
This was hinted at ages before. Don't see why it's suddenly a problem. Thought it seemed very Dean-like, he's always dressing up and is strange so would probably be into that. If you want to really answer the why, it's to complete the joke from episodes past where he was watching a video of some dude in a dalmatian suit and he said to himself "I hope this doesn't awaken anything in me."
Your post tells me you'll enjoy season 2 better than 1.

Still didn't make any sense. It's a good idea, but they could've done a better job of delivering the punchline than 'suddenly: dog costumes'.
I'll explain it to you. You have to get someone else to understand it for you.

I can be fairly harsh critic wise and I hated some of season 3 episodes and felt a lot of episodes featured characters being parodies of themselves but season 3 had enough good episodes to not be as bad as you are making out.
Mostly retired. Unless you ask or it's something interesting.

Umbrage probably won't appreciate the Beetlejuice thing.
@Poro: Comparitively, it was bad. Chaos Theory was one of the exceptions I can think of.

I saw the Beetlejuice thing, it was what convinced me to watch the show.
Maybe I'm wrong on this, but the dog bit just seemed like a rather heavy-handed punchline for a subtle joke. If we saw a dog costume once, it would've been funny. Instead they felt the need to try and explain the joke.

The D&D episode is what got me hooked.
While I agree with some of Umbrage's criticisms, such as the weakness of the Season 1 finale, it occurs to me that his general "I like this but key parts are terrible" attitude might be due to him just not getting the jokes. The way he completely misses the dean's dog fetish is a prime example. That's a classic dean bit

I love the show, but the finale sucked. I get the dog fetish, I just didn't find it very funny. *shrug*
It's mainly just how contrived the ending felt, and how OOC Britta and Slater acted.

Slater/Britta's behavior made no sense no. At this point I think the writers were like "Uh shit, Britta isn't the chick that Jeff is trying to hook up with anymore, we actually have to develop her into a character, wtf we do."

OK yup, the show's back. I watched about 3 episodes in a row... that chloroform scene was the funniest fucking thing ever.

OK am I paranoid or was that line from Abed "What do you mean 'usually'?" in regards to Britta's knowledge of Jeff's underwear a hint of things to come?

k second season ending was the greatest thing ever
although the "Troy has an emotional breakdown in every episode" thing is getting old
Second season Chang is WAAAAAAY better than season 1 Chang IMO. More dialogue, less monologue is good.
Kind of nervous they're piling on too many characters with Magnitude and Vicki and The Other Dean, but still fucking awesome.

Magnitude is great though so it's fine. He was Lee Jordan in the Harry Potter films.

Yessssss
Engineers accepted the word “planetary” in its epicyclic sense, but I was always conscious that it also meant “wandering,” “erratic.”
