I was actually Wither Skeleton hunting earlier today.
No Skulls yet, and I lost a ton of enchanted stuff by afking once (and getting killed by a Blaze) but I'm fine and the Nether is fine for me.

Drink a potion of night vision and a strength II potion the next time. Also, trap the blaze spawner. Not to mention the regeneration II potion. Go out and hunt some ghasts. Not to mention trapping yourself in a sealed pit in the ground everytime you go AFK in multiplayer.
