It's not that limited if he deals with it well. And it depends how much he can do with them. There are 35 smilies. Enough for every letter of the alphabet. If matt allows it I can program a simple way for him to convert any message into smilies and then convert back if you just make 26 smilies represent a letter. So klazam ask matt on what is allowed with the emoticon quirk and whether giving a program is allowed.

If programs aren't allowed but each letter thing is allowed while tedious it still works. And if that isn't allowed make the down face equal scum read, up face equal town read, and side ways faces equal null read and just point a lot of scum/town tells you see in people to show your opinion on them.
