Can you (maru) either zip and upload your minecraft folder, so i can try again, or check the posted one aganist your own for any differences?
I suspect that there's a issue related to Minecraft.jar itself- If i update it to 1.4.6 it works perfectly but will not use any mods. I'm guessing, here, that something's configured incorrectly with it, because what i get every time i try is a black screen after i log in.
the original link is borked, ISO me and try to find the most recent links, and they are direct copy pasts of a working .miencraft folder of my own.
as soon as I get home, i will dedicate some time to figuring otu the issues.

And yes, while this is swayed by my own opinion on the matter, that doesn't make it false.

I agree with this, which is why I don't truly believe that my vote should count for anything. I mean, I've been on the server for a little over a month now.
Also: Happy New Years Eve everyone.
I've been here for nearly 13 months and am in favor of a total reset at the redstone update or a partial reset now, i don't really see how 13 months is newer. I've been here *nearly* as long as our current map, and only a handful of those who are still active can claim longer than I.
I'm also one of the "richest" members of the server to boot.
I don't see why the redstone update is a reason for us to reset the map. If our redstone contraptions wont work anymore, we can just rebuild them to how they need to be with the update. The only regeneration that could make sense is the Nether, but that would probably be a pain as we all have our portals and rails and such running EVERYWHERE. I am all in favor of creating a new spawntown though. We can say you can have
1
house in
1
of the spawntowns so we have room to expand and for new people to start from. (Also, is anyone finding the irony of the older people arguing about the future of new people?)

This. If we're going to do a full regen, we should do it when jeb re-writes the generation code. He hinted at a "Biomes Update", a complete overhaul to the world generation system.
That's
when we should start a new map.

I'm not totally sure, but I believe there may be a way to get new ores/other features without losing what we've built. It would require some MCEdit trickery though, so a) myself or someone else who knows how to do it would have to manually edit the map and b) it's possible that such trickery could bork stuff that's built on or around nether fortresses.

A) Visit the old SpawnTown
B) go to the new one if they are new and/or want a vanilla thing.
This is an idea that people knocked down because it wasn't actually spawntown. Then we fussled with moving the boundaries of the original spawntown
eventually I think this is the way to go.
either move to spawntown 2.0 or make new new spawntown (a spawntown over spawntown)

I was going to argue with Hiraki's Spawntown1 and Spawntown2 but I think it all boils down to we don't know what we want.
There doesn't seem to be any consensus as to what the users of the server want/need, besides the need to have Spawntown exist for both the existing, returning, and future players. I'm simply trying to accomodate the desires of the players and it seems like a majority of the people are simply fine as it is. Aka we should just do nothing and let the server continue to run its course.
It doesn't matter if Spawntown isn't habited at all times. That's not the point of spawntown. The point of Spawntown is to have some place to come back to. People new to the server will be able to go there and find a safe place to stay. People returning to the server will find something familiar. And people who have left and done their own thing can come back to Spawntown knowing that:
A) everyone knows where it is and
B) everyone can easily get there (/warp spawntown)
Just because I left Spawntown doesn't mean I don't frequent it for the resources it provides- my first house, the farms, the item exchange, the many roads to other places.

As i said before, once you make it obvious how to get to it, I will gladly get rid of it. I would bet money that every name i personally have whitelisted on the server wouldn't know how to get to it if I asked them.
