Let me know how it goes, I've been toying around with the idea of going to an SCG Open.

I don't think there is a magic player in existence who does not know this.

I didn't, but I'm new at this.

Also TIL I hate rancor.

Rancor is pretty legit, it used to be pretty decent in legacy, I think it might of even made a comeback with Infect.

that is a question that is almost 100% of the time better answered after we already know what new standard IS.

Been getting back into MTGO, since I don't have time to get to the shop much. Twoo's Stinkweed Zombies has been doing well for me, against everything but Cloudpost. I' m thinking of running something like Choking Sands or Evil Presence, but wouldn't mind advice.

@reck: Usually, RDW puts up good results while everyone else is busy experimenting, if you just want a deck until it settles down again.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

Fate and I registered for GATECRASH release at our local gaming haus. We're doing a midnight sealed event + sealed two-headed giant event on the following afternoon. I'm picking up guild sets in blue/black and black/white colors, Fate is doing red/green and green/blue. Reaaaaallly excited for my first real events.

also: I just played a REAL guttersnipe + chandra + increasing vengeance GOBLIN RAPE deck with missing cards written on slips of paper. I really like the mana curve and playstyle against Fate's Rakdos deck, but I dunno if it's worth buying ~$40 cards to fill out

I do still have my RDW...nothing spoiled so far seems great for RDW though except maybe the 5 Alarm Fire enchantment (aka new Shrine of Burning Rage)

Looks like it's about 15-17 right now, up from like 7-8 about a month ago. Figured I'd get rid of it before the price dropped again.

There's also Skullcrack. And possibly more- Aurelia's Fury could be very nice as a sweeper/finisher if you splash white.

Look for the deck I linked to a few days ago; it's the Blue/Red Guttersnipe combo deck I was trying to build when you guys were here. Won me 2nd place at Constructed, it's super fun, and costs about $10 to build. Sideboard needs work, though.

I'm going to link to an article that isn't actually about Magic the Gathering. It's about Android: Netrunner. Netrunner was an old CCG developed by Richard Garfield, who designed Magic. Garfield actually said he preferred Netrunner to Magic, but Netrunner came out in that dark time of Too Many God Damn CCGs and it bubbled into obscurity.

But now there's a living card game reboot of Netrunner called Android:Netrunner. Living card games are cool. They come out with set expansions of fixed cards instead of random booster packs, so it's way cheaper than Magic to get all the cards and play with all the cards. (Currently the core set you can find for around $25-30, expansions are $15 each, there are currently 2 of them.)

I'm probably gonna make a Netrunner thread and start running teaching games on OCTGN (which is free!) in the next few days. For now I'm just linking this article because it's specifically addressed to Magic players so this is a good place to leave it.

Did you say freeeeeee? Free is good.

Also getting into magic makes me want to get back into this again really badly:

I've been wanting to play Android:Netrunner for awhile, never had the chance.

In other news, I've put together a temporary decklist for the Boros Humans deck I want to run:

Boros Humans
CREATURES

4x Boros Elite
4x Champion of the Parish
4x Lightning Mauler
3x Thalia, Guardian of Thraben
4x Silverblade Paladin
4x Hellrider
3x Zealous Conscripts

SPELLS

2x Aurelia's Fury
4x Boros Charm
4x Searing Spear
2x Skullcrack

LANDS

4x Clifftop Retreat
4x Sacred Foundry
2x Slayers' Stronghold
4x Mountain
8x Plains

First off...holy shit Boros Charm is GOOD.

Second off... the sideboard would probably include some Bonfires/Pillars/O-Rings, not too sure yet.
