From the context of the vote, obviously not.
But i found it odd since we kinda started to get serious. Wouldn't it be better to get out of RVS as soon as possible?

It actually got serious? really? i did not pick that up or think so. it really feels too early for me to tell. i've been watching things closely and feel it isn't a good idea to get serious so so early.

Mine and implosion's look are serious. I would say that we get out of RVS when people start posting serious votes and give serious reasons.

UNVOTE: I'm bummed I missed RVS. Lol.

@AP
You're mostly right on that. I just didn't catch any indication of whether or not we were allowed to post.

@levi
I am curious though, why was I your RVS vote? Before we get into a reasons/excuses debate, I just want to know yours. 'It was completely random' is one too, but that's rarely the case. There's usually some meta pushing it.

@implosion
I get you like to reaction test. I get Xeg's first post was off. But 'every post you made has screamed scum'? Why 'plo, why?
VOTE: implosion

@Xegarus
I fail to see the reason behind the daystart NL. What was going through your head?

I think
BBmolla
seems towny (more so after the P-Edit; seeing his last two posts)

P-Edit: Lol. Glad I unvoted. Didn't notice I'd put him at L-1

I thought it would start some discussion. And it appears to have.
Discussions means we come out of RVS. And the sooner we get out of this phase, the sooner we can actually scumhunt.

Sorry for wallpost >_> I'll try to not do this in the future. It's a habit that I'm trying to wean myself off of.

AP wrote:Im pretty sure Rondar was telling the truth when he said that the thread didn't say pregame and he got excited and started voting. I tyhink if he were scum, he would have visited his scum QT and it would have been more obvious that it was pregame (especially since scum cards say they dont have daytalk anyways). So if he had a QT he was allowed to post in, he would have realized the game probably wasn't starting yet.

From experience modding and experience being scum, this isn't necessarily the case.

BB wrote:Implosion explain this

Xegarus wanted to do something. So he voted for no lynch. It's funny, because I used to think that voting for no lynch early was a noobtowntell, but that's been, IME, empirically disproven.

Rondar wrote:I get you like to reaction test. I get Xeg's first post was off. But 'every post you made has screamed scum'? Why 'plo, why?

That wasn't a reaction test. I was just lazy, and it was 4 AM. I think I went to sleep shortly after that post.

Alas, here we are:

Xegarus wrote:Thread title seems to suggest pre game.

Minor quip, but really
any
time someone uses words like "seems" it sets off alarm bells in my head. I'm not sure if I'm a hypocrite with respect to this, but noncommittal language is generally a scumtell. Note that I understand that in this context, the word "seems" is in no way noncommittal - but there are alternate phrasings that are much more direct. Indirectness in general, I find, is scummy.

Xegarus wrote:Hasn't posted yet.

Even more minor quip, but this just feels off (which I guess is a gut thing) as a reason to vote someone in RVS.

Xegarus wrote:Semi or not, care to explain?

This phrasing just irritates my gut, but i'm not sure why.

Xegarus wrote:What is so scummy about my post so far?
Or is this just based on your gut?

I find this to be an interesting response to my previous post. My "metaphor" post was pretty clearly sarcastic/lazy/bad, yet he doesn't call me out for it at all - he just asks me to explain. Again. Because it did so much for him the first time. It feels like, rather than actually trying to read others, he sees a threat and immediately jumps to "how can I get rid of this threat?" Really, I think my lazypost actually can be kind of a reaction test insofar as I really hate this reaction to it.

Xegarus wrote:Was that a RVS?

...I'm really not sure what else the justification "explosions are better" could be. I really can't see this post from Xegarus as anything but an attempt to blend in/look like he's doing something/deflect attention onto someone else.

Xegarus wrote:From the context of the vote, obviously not.
But i found it odd since we kinda started to get serious. Wouldn't it be better to get out of RVS as soon as possible?

Aaaaand more questions that prod at others weakly without taking any firm stances on anything.

I find it hard to believe that you would not "pick it up or think so". Especially if you were "watching things closely and feel it isn't a good idea to get serious so so early."

Why wouldn't getting serious so early be a good idea?

And he finally votes... along with
another question.
I'm not saying that questions on their own merit are scummy but these are
really, really useless.
Questions like "do you think X is scum" or "why are you voting Y" are legitimate - these really aren't accomplishing anything, though.

I thought it would start some discussion. And it appears to have.
Discussions means we come out of RVS. And the sooner we get out of this phase, the sooner we can actually scumhunt.

Oh lolz, this excuse. This used to be my favorite excuse to use as scum. Granted, I also thought it was true as town - but I would actively justify my actions by saying "i'm doing crap to get us out of RVS" as if getting out of RVS was some magical black-and-white moment where we no longer have the ability to vote for people without reason or fluffpost. In short, this line of reasoning is really silly.

I mean, it wasn't obvious at all to me. I had loosely tossed around some setup spec in my head and I'd be shocked if there were no cop in the game.

But it never ocurred to me that NL would ever be an even remotely good strategy (its not).

And unless hes an alt account, I strongly doubt someone that joined 2 months ago is under the impression that a NL in this semi open setup is scuh an assumed standard plan that he should just go ahead an vote NL in RVS with no added reason.
