They need to bring back Eliza Coupe's secret service agent. They were perfect.
I thought this episode started really strongly and I was excited at where it was going. I wasn't a fan of the songs, but I never am (except for the Abed/Troy music history song and the discoteca spider). But then they kind of squandered the secrets of everyone by smushing them all together so none really resonated except for Shirley's. Overall I enjoyed the episode. Just didn't live up to what I thought was a promising premise.
I quite liked it. The songs were fun, and the eyebrows on Jeff's puppet kept on cracking me up. Still, I do agree with Zoraster that they missed an opportunity for individual character growth when all the secrets blended together.
That was one of the worst episodes of Community I've seen yet, perhaps only beaten out by the 8-Bit episode. Heavy on the meta/light on the actual Community college premise of the show, Horrible pacing, go-nowhere plot, poorly sung songs (Except for Shirley, none of these people have a particularly good voice), poorly written songs (uninspired lyrics, uninspired music), stunt casting that added nothing (Hey, Jason Alexander. Bye, Jason Alexander.), Zoraster's solid point about the secret (any one of these could have sustained their own episode, now they are muddled).

KING SCAR APOLOGIST!
DREAMER OF THE NE0N DREAM (SUPP 2021 LAST PLACE WINNER)!
I would disagree with AniX I think its a bit unfair, that said, it didnt quite work for me. The singing felt jammed in and I know they were sticking to a genre, but still. The secrets varied in there intensity, Britta and Pierce's for instance came nowhere near the rest of the groups and there wasn't enough laughs.
That said, it was a solid episode and I liked the format.
Mostly retired. Unless you ask or it's something interesting.
Also that was one of the last episodes filmed. Part of Chevy's agreement-thing to leave the show was to record his lines for the puppet ep, so he was able to be there in puppet-form but not in-person.
I was not drunk enough for this week's ep. I'm not sure if I loved it or hated it.
Another thing, I think the tag for last week's ep was supposed to be for this week (since Herstory had another actual-tag but NBC/showrunners just tossed the puppet one and an announcer voice on last week's, then put bloopers on the puppet ep). That would have made the ep a lot better.
If you don't know how to lie, then how do you know when you're being lied to?
No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible.
I honestly just forgot to watch since the convention episode (which feels like a pretty damning indictment of what used to be my favourite show). Is this season worth another chance after that or should I just pretend those first episodes never happened and get on with my life?
It depends on how high quality it needs to be worth your time. It's still better than Whitney. For me there has been enough funny bits to make it worth it. If you'll just spend your time being pissed/depressed about it not being as good as before, then don't watch it. If that's not really your personality, go for it.
Cool; I imagine that I will end up finding a random weekend to blast through all of it sometime a while from now rather than make an effort to actively catch up. I've not missed it all that much but if there are glimpses of the heights it used to hit then it'll probably be worth it.
I thought this episode had some funny parts, but something about the group dynamics and dialog felt very very off, very like the first episode of the season did.
