Also, the point is that they've now been printed three times. The price is going to come down once DGM gets around.
One time, back in 'nam, Sudo was set upon by an entire squadron of charlies. He challenged them all to a game of Pictionary, which he won resoundingly. The charlies were forced to not only surrender the skirmish, but also their world-famous chili recipe, which Sudo sold to Texas for a hefty profit. Sudo is a master of diplomacy.

All DGM boosters have either a Gate, a Shock or Maze's End instead of a basic land. Not sure what the odds were in RTR/GTC but they had to be worse than what it's gonna be in DGM?
Nah, the land slots are all printed separately from the rest of the packs and the shocks have been confirmed by WotC as showing up less in DGM than the other sets

While we do not know their exact distribution, I think its highly likely that it will follow wizards standard print run. That means that the land sheet is 121 cards, of this since we know its been said to be incredibly unlikely to pull a maze's end, I am putting its chances at 1/121. As for the shocks, there being 10 of them means that if they make the sheet 11 of each guildgate, 1 of each shock, and maze's end, we come to 121 cards, with the odds of pulling a shock in a pack at 10/121 or 8.26%

Compare that with the odds of pulling a shock (5 rares) out of the 53 that are in gatecrash or return to ravnica, and you get 5/53 = 9.43% of gatecrash/rtr packs contain shocks, a higher rate than DGM, yet really not that far off. The real difference comes in pulling specific shocks, as in DGM you have only a .826% chance of pulling a specific one of the 10, where as in GTC/RTR you have 1.89% chance of getting the one you want.

As mentioned the price of shocks will go down, especially since magic prices are largely determined by perception, and the notion that they are flooding the market will continue, despite the fact that this "3rd" printing is in a spring small set, and will not be opened in anywhere near the quantities of the other two sets, so it cant possibly flood the market.

I don't understand why anyone thinks this matters. If you're picking for value, RTR is far and away the best set to do it in. It's not even close. As for the shocks, they'll all be 15-20 by the time next modern season hits, so people who are talking about their price right now are being ridiculously short sighted.

I think the implied value for buying DGM comes in the fact that ~10% of the time, you end up getting an $8 land in addition to your regularly scheduled rare. Opening DGM for value comes in finding how many of that ~10% ended up in your box.

Except I don't think that the one in nine chance of opening an 8$ card makes up for the fact that there are just tons more cards you'd rather open in RTR.

Eh? RTR has Sphinx's Revelation, Angel of Serenity, Deathrite Shaman, but those are the only "big money" rares (over $10).

GTC has Obzedat, Domri Rade, & Boros Reckoner.

Right now, DGM actually has the most rares over $10 with Ral Zarek (who will inevitably drop), Voice of Resurgence, Blood Baron of Vizkopa, and Legion's Initiative.

Shocks are all hovering at about $8

Abrupt Decay will hold value, if not go higher.

GTC's red shocks are also slightly pricier, last I checked, so there's that too.

Mmmhmm. As the set gets drafted more and more packs get opened, prices will fall a lot. Boros Reckoner was $25 for a while, same with Angel of Serenity.

On a more important note...
My LGS is doing another 1-1-4 sealed as the DGM release.
Is there any way to make DGM sealed suck less? I got handfuls of mana fixers but nothing useful to use them with.

Except everything in GTC is falling whereas everything in RTR is rising. Also, RTR has like 6-7 cards that are eternal format playable, and will therefore continue to gain value forever. GTC has um let me check. Oh yeah, exactly 0.

Also, Reckoner is like a 8$ card now on ebay unless I'm much mistaken. As pretty much everyone predicted.

So I really enjoyed draft tonight. I think DGM/GTC/RTR might overtake M13 as my favourite draft format.

I won one, then went to a buddies house and we drafted with our prize packs and I won another.

Seems likely to just be dumb luck to me. No one knows the format yet so we're all just picking random cards. I'll have some impressions of the format up probably tomorrow that we can all argue about.

Might as well throw this out here just as I laughed at Klazam for. :D I need

3x wasteland
3x standstill
4x mutavault

to complete a legacy deck (two, actually)

Anyone happen to have some lying around I could trade for? Or if you see any in someones binder at a local shop pick them up for me and I'll trade you for them.

Standstill, they've got 3 of them at $6 a pop
